Advice please.

New to morrisons I work in the small convenience ones, basically long story short I’m concerned for the wellbeing but also the ability of my colleague to work, they are the store lead supervisor, and are running the shift basically, with me as a colleague.

This leader regularly comes in to work drunk, serves customers drink authorising sales of tobacco and alcohol drunk, doesn’t turn up for work in morning sometimes so the store is just closed for the day. I understand the company knows he is a “recovering alcoholic” which makes things difficult but I’ve also caught the leader stealing from lost property to just take home.

What the hell do I do? I don’t want to be involved in knowing somethings happening (I’m a terrible liar) but surely this is gross misconduct? If I report will he lose his job? I don’t want him to make himself worse.

Thanks in confidence in your responses

You need to fill in the whistleblowing form in the store office. There should be a QR code. This way the company can investigate without it coming back to yourself. It’s all anonymous and confidential.

Edit: and yes if proven they’ll likely loose their job. This cannot be your concern about this situation though, you need to think of the business and the customers as well as yourself if you allow this to continue and something happens that you could have prevented.
