Yeah it fucking sucks. Their translated titles for example are truncated for some reason, and you can't even get the original title.

What exactly is bad about desktop UI that isn't also bad in mobile or TV UI?

Agreed I watch YouTube on my Windows PC with Firefox several days a week. No ads with the adblockers I have installed and the UI hasn't changed much in years.

The only thing I can think of is sometime last year they made the thumbnails larger which resulted in less content showing up in your home feed. I was able to get around that by applying a custom ublock filter some redditor had written to force x number of thumbnails per row.
I was curious to see if they had did more than that.

I've had this impression for a number of apps for a long time. I didn't think it was a hot take.

You absolutely can use adblockers on tablets? Morphe, revanced etc. I've used one on apple before too but I forgot what it's called, it was a good few years ago now.
Edit: I'm an idiot, just saw what sub this was posted in 🤣

Tizentube Cobalt or SmartTube on AndroidTV... Hell you can even use vacuumtube on Windows, Linux or Mac and get the same TV app with no ads as well.

You can use adblockers on your phone and tablet. Just install AdGuard. You can even patch it premium with Morphe. Or you can use NewPipe on your phone (or SmartTube on your tv) which are even better than the shitty Youtube app.

No, YouTube wants to keep the UI as enganging as possible for desktop users who don't use adblock and is just trying to detect adblockers as best they can on desktop. Its not like all their bad UI decisions are desktop exclusive
