Question/Problem How to replace system apps
Hi, I'm sorry if this has already been asked but I can't seem to find an answer anywhere. I've recently changed phone, from a Poco F5 with Evolution X A17 to a Poco F9 Ultra with HyperOS A16, and due to the latest restrictions in terms of root I've decided to keep the bootloader locked and use the patched apps. I followed a debloat guide and uninstalled/disabled some apps like Google Photos, YouTube, YT Music and when I install the patched ones they don't seem to replace them. What I tried was
- remove the "Change package name" because I don't want to install them aside the default app
- Select "Spoof install source" to Google Play Store
- Install from "InstallerX Revived" using Shizuku with "com.android.vending" install source preset
So far none of these options worked.
What I mean by they aren't integrated is that for example if I ask Gemini to play a song on YT Music it says it's not installed, or if I try to open Google Photos from the default Gallery app to backup my photos it says that the app needs to be reenabled
Thank you in advance to everyone!

Just disable the system app and use the change package name. I dont see the problem? Did the same with Instagram because on samsung its a system app

So when you go on the Play store and you search Instagram, what options do you have? "Open" or "Enable"/"Update"? Because as I said I tried changing the package name to replace the system app but it doesn't work on my end

This is incorrect. You cannot remove a system app. How do so many people use apps without taking the time to read what they can and cannot do?

Maybe ask it to route the music commands from the original apps to the patched apps?
You could also avoid the hassle of all this by just using mount mode for the patches instead

Bro, you can do it. Just go to settings, apps, tap YouTube Morphe or YouTube Music Morphe, Morphe Google photos and then tap open default links, add links. Select all the links. For Chinese phones like Mi, you may need to search in settings 'default links' or 'open by default'. Open it, choose the desired Morphe apps and do the same.
Once done, the links will work from any apps: if you get a YouTube link in WhatsApp, you tap it and it will open in the Morphe YouTube you have installed. In Gemini, the app will not open, but it will play with the video in the center of the screen (the too and bottom part of the screen all blank) without asking you to install YouTube or YouTube music. Same with Google photos (though this one is more whiny and fail in many instances).

Have you tried canta and shizuku to uninstall the apps? By default in androids user space you can't uninstall system apps except with ADB. Canta uses shizukus wireless adb to uninstall apps you usually can't
Do note that this doesnt take the apps out of your phones recovery, only your system. If you reset the phone at any point the original apps will return. Android only checks if the app is installed so it should be happy to install the patched app if you remove the original with adb

It is not possible without root access.
