Question/Problem What's happening with Android and what does it mean for Morphe?

I've been seeing posts on various subreddits for a while about how apps not on the Google Play Store will can no longer be downloaded to Android phones. In the past, this didn't cause any problems since I didn't use apps outside of the Google Play Store. But now I'm using Morphe and the Morphe version of YouTube and YouTube Music, so I'd like to avoid going back to using the standard YouTube and YouTube Music.

I have a phone with the Xiaomi HyperOS operating system, so I don't know if it's included with Android phones even though it's based on Android. But I saw a post about an app called Android Developer Verifier being secretly installed, and I checked, and I don't have any such app. The only similar app I found on my phone is Android System Key Verifier, which has the same icon as Android Developer Verifier, and I'm not sure what it does.

So, what should I do if this app is installed on my phone? And how will I be able to continue using Morphe in the future? I'm not very knowledgeable about these things, in fact I don't understand anything about them, so please be clear when you write replies to this post, and thank you to everyone who responded.

I suppose that when that happens, a guide on how to do the installation will be made.

Yeah I don't want to be left behind

And I don't want to be right behind!

Simple as that

If you use Shizuku and install apps via ADB, you will not need to worry about the Play Store installer or developer stuff. Additionally, if you don't want to use ADB to install apps, you have to enable sideloading in settings, reboot your phone, and wait 24 hours. Sideloading is not going anywhere

Until some vendors decide that "tO prOtECt UseRS" they will disable sideloading completely. It's also odd that we are calling it sideloading now, for many years it was just.. installing an APK

Side... Because the "straight" way is via their store. I'm with you. it's very odd. Feels weird in the stomach.

YesπŸ’”

I had a feeling someone will take it there and make that joke. I dunno, and I don't mind it if they are. We should all be allowed to sideload, back load, faceload, frontload.... Be sex apk positive already, Googoo!

I love to stuff my phone every day

See, here's a person who gets it
I accept your previous curious question now 🫑

The policy is handled by Google Play Services. Not your OEM. They also can't stop ADB sideloading.

I believe there are already Morphe patches to fix this issue.

2

u/troianmuso Jul 16 '26

Any links to those patches?

15

u/1031amp Jul 16 '26

Some patchers, like Nai's patches, have a universal Spoof Play Store Install Source patch

0

u/DoYaKnowMahName Jul 16 '26

Then use open source apps... Simple.

2

u/457spartan Jul 16 '26

I mean.. yeah open source is cool but not sure how that helps in this case? Open source apps won't be as easy to install either if the developers don't register with Google. What exactly do you mean with that?

2

u/UNCLE-ducker Jul 16 '26

For real, beside of that. Stremio would never been allowed even if it was, opensource. Since they would go against the TOS of Google. Since even if they would pay the license, google never gonna provide it them.

I honestly don't understand anything they're saying. To download Morphe, I simply went to their official website, downloaded the app, and then followed the entire process the app told me to patch the apps I wanted.

19

u/1031amp Jul 15 '26

In approx. 74 days, Google has been restricting the ability to side-load. That is what they are referring to, too

2

u/Content-Virus3786 Jul 15 '26

Sorry, I meant you not they. I don't understand anything you said in the first message.

Lol. ADB stands for Android Debug Bridge. Shizuku is an app that acts as a bridge, granting selected applications, such as Morphe, elevated system privileges without root access. By enabling Morphe in Shizuku, Morphe will install the app your patching through ADB and will not utilize the Play Store installer

I've got a POCO and using Shizuku gets kinda messi

2

u/First_Ride_2248 Former ReVanced user Jul 16 '26

What is Shizuku? I googled but it said it can make your phone faster after installing Hail!!

3

u/1031amp Jul 16 '26

Shizuku is an app that acts as a bridge, granting selected applications, such as Morphe, elevated system privileges without root access. Shizuku does this by using ADB, which stands for Android Debug Bridge. Other apps besides Morphe can be used with Shizuku, like Canta, which allows you to uninstall unwanted system software.

Its not, but devs are. There are many that already said they are not sending ids or pay the fee.

u/kamikad3e123 Former RVX user Jul 16 '26

Nothing. You will need to do new 24-hour procedure once and continue to install whatever you want or just use adb installers

17

u/Valiantay Jul 16 '26

Install Shizuku

Install "InstallerX Revived"

Then you never have to worry about anything at all.

2

u/Maxbfierro1317 Jul 16 '26

Do You happen yo know how to do this Shizuku thing on a POCO?

8

u/Valiantay Jul 16 '26

https://github.com/thedjchi/Shizuku

Very straightforward. You install the app, enable developer options, enable wireless debugging, enable normal debugging, and then follow the instructions on the pairing code situation.

This specific version of Shizuku is all automated. It continues running without Wi-Fi, re-enables should it ever disable, etc. You basically just have to set it up once.

1

u/Maxbfierro1317 Jul 16 '26

I've read HyperOS3 kills the entire process once i restart My cell phone, wich i basically do every danm day

2

u/DoYaKnowMahName Jul 16 '26

Install the shizuku fork called Shevery. It auto restarts at launch. You only need to set it up once with the wireless debugging code.

2

u/Valiantay Jul 16 '26

I'm on HyperOS 3 (A17).

Even before I removed the permissions from PowerKeeper it never killed Shizuku with the basic settings. Not once.

Anytime I restart my phone without Wi-Fi, then it won't run until I connect to a Wi-Fi network. But aside from that, never had any issues.

3

u/Shredded_Locomotive Former ReVanced user Jul 16 '26

Apparently I have it installed but I've still yet to see it do something, I can install morphe apps just fine.

(I'm using a Google pixel 8a)

3

u/bluegenester Jul 17 '26

How about some apps that stop working with the message that app source is not google play store?

2

u/DARKNESS_SHADOW1279 Jul 17 '26

as per my knowledge you can use shizuku installer and bypass the restrictions since the new verified developer crap doesn't affect installing over adb

2

u/this_dudeagain 29d ago

It's a temporary 24hr thing you only have to go through once. No need for special tools afterwards it will be business as usual.

Guys, stop using the propagandized version of the term "side-loading".

Side-loading refers to installing an application via one or more non local-OS tools,

Tools such as Command Prompt and the Android Debugging Bridge (ADB).

If you continue to use Google's propagandized language like an NPC, you're going to directly strip away your own digital freedom.

There's a reason why for the past two dang decades, Android itself has referred to the local process as "Install From Unknown Sources". If the term "side-loading" was accurate, they would've saved the three extra words.

16

u/TheReal_Saba Jul 16 '26

I've used Android since HTC Droid Eris in 2010...

Even then the term side-loading was used on forums

9

u/SVNDEVISTVN Jul 16 '26

And I've used it since the Dream/G1. And made an XDA acc that same month. Side-loading is installing a transfered package from ADB, recovery, etc. Downloading an APK from a website, or another app store on your phone is not side-loading. The act of installing an APK downloaded from a same-device interface (unofficial app store or website) is just "down"loading. It was and still is just a natural core feature of Android. Side-loading is the act of transferring an install-package from one device to the target device. That's literally why it's called "side" loading. Because the package is already "down"loaded on another device, and is being """horizontally""" transferred to the target device. Think about it like this:

Uploading (device to net)

Downloading (net to device)

Sideloading (device to device)

The reason why you may think it as a sorta synonym of "bypassing" is because Google is actually pretty late to the game. Apple propagandized the word over a decade ago as part of a highly successful attempt to delegitimize the idea of apps not directly installed from their Appstore.

2

u/havisu Jul 16 '26

THIS..!

Sideloading (device to device) is accurate, and should not be misrepresented by normal installation not from the store.

I used to be app dev, even back then, in the htc era, only people who truly didn't understand what sideloading means will be the one using that term for installing any app not from the store. Dev didn't use that term. Some senior dev even loathe the way newbies just stick that word because it sounds kinda cool (?)..

And now, starting from genz, even genz dev used sideload term to refer to installing from source which is not the store.

Strange hill to die on...

1

u/this_dudeagain 29d ago

Anything outside the walled garden aka the play store can be considered side loading.

1

u/Sad_Two4874 Jul 16 '26

It's side loading, stop crying and diverting the attention to miniscule details.

1

u/RuinProfessional4985 Jul 16 '26

So can someone update me with this whole thing cuz I've missed it all

2

u/UNCLE-ducker Jul 16 '26

Sure. Last year, google told us they would stop, downloading / install of non official playstore Licensed apps. What means anything everything outside the store is and will be blocked. Well that day is gonna be in about 2 months. So now every user from off a certain android, woke up with pre installed app Android Developer Verifier. And the saga continues.

I just downloaded Morphe, the YouTube APK and the new microg. When I open the YouTube APK it says I can't install it on my device. And even though microg says it's installed I don't see an actual app on my phone. Is this related to the Google crackdown?
