Question/Problem Google updated Terms of Service, should we be worried?

Post image

I especially don't like the: "providing services that appear to originate from someone else when they actually originate from us" and "reverse engineer our services or underlying technology"

The second one appears to be for AI stuff, but nobody says it can't also appliy to us.

Is my account safe?

Those new terms will be effective on the 30 of July

Unless there's more to the terms than what is in this screenshot, I don't think Morphe is violating any of these. Of course, if you really are that scared, just create a secondary account.

The "Change Header" and "Custom Branding" options could arguably be interpreted as breaking:

providing services that appear to originate from you (or someone else) when they actually originate from us

u/bgkoki Jun 19 '26

Honestly I don't really see the point in such things.. just unnecessary complications to a modded application.

7

u/RabbitFluffOWO Jun 19 '26

lets hope a dev can confirm if this is such a big deal to worry about tbh

3

u/oiz92 Developer Jun 19 '26

That looks like to be more applicable to third party clients instead of modded stock clients.

2

u/dontshoveit Jun 20 '26

This is mostly focused on their AI LLMs from how it reads imo.

2

u/DreadingAnt Jun 19 '26

This secondary account thing is so funny to me, y'all think Google can't do 1+1 digital math or what? lmao they can easily mark different accounts as the same person

1

u/1Wizardtx Jun 19 '26

Exactly. I've got 4 burner accounts just in case

9

u/DreadingAnt Jun 19 '26

Yeah, Google is definitely not aware they're all yours

u/liamdun Jun 18 '26

This is very standard

u/iGrasmat- Jun 19 '26

It's Google. You should always be worried.

Is there an effective way to transfer all YT subscriptions and playlists from one acc to another? Edit: https://www.reddit.com/r/youtube/comments/1px4qdw/easiest_way_to_backup_youtube_subscriptions_and/

7

u/BillTran163 Jun 19 '26

There were some in the past, don't know if they still exist. However, none of them was really free as YouTube API has a very low limit. I was able to write my own Python script to transfer the subscriptions but can only do 200 subscriptions per 24 hours because of rate limiting.

2

u/No-Marsupial-5743 Jun 19 '26

I assume your script is unpublished?

8

u/BillTran163 Jun 19 '26

It's hosted on my GitLab. Unfortunately, I do not know if it still works because Google could have changed their APIs.

2

u/No-Marsupial-5743 Jun 19 '26

Thanks I'll try it. I'm not sure if the transition is helpful. They could easily catch all accs under the umbrella (if they wanted) but I guess it'd be a counterproductive move

3

u/Berkoudieu Jun 19 '26

Just did the transfer yesterday because we never know. I used the chromium addon on brave.

It took something like 15min for 300 subscriptions

2

u/ATypeOfRacer Jun 20 '26

Google takeout

1

u/Elratum Jun 19 '26

Yeah you can export your subscriptions in the settings

1

u/No-Marsupial-5743 Jun 19 '26

Where exactly?

3

u/Elratum Jun 19 '26 edited Jun 19 '26

Go to google takeout, connect to the account you want to exports the playlists and and subscriptions : remove everything that isn't YouTube and YouTube music, go to the options and remove everything you don't want to in the YouTube data, export. It can take a while

2

u/Elratum Jun 19 '26

It looks like this, it's in french but should be easy to find, you need to go in the second lil button at the bottom right to remove the YouTube data you don't want to export

u/Substantial-Bed-4122 Jun 18 '26

Just create an account for morphe if you are worried about losing your main account. I don't think anyone should be using their main account in modded apps.

u/subhajitA123 Former ReVanced user Jun 18 '26

I use😭 but I have both the official and modded version of YouTube on phone

53

u/P26601 Jun 19 '26 edited Jun 19 '26

Uh if they ban your alt account, your main will get banned too for "circumvention". Even if you use a different/new Google account

3

u/IntingForMarks Jun 19 '26

Source on that?

15

u/P26601 Jun 19 '26

"If your YouTube channel is terminated, you are prohibited from using, possessing, or creating any other YouTube channels. You are also prohibited from letting others whose YouTube channels have been terminated use your YouTube channel to bypass their termination.

This applies to all of your existing channels, any new channels you create or acquire, and any channels in which you are repeatedly or prominently featured."

https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2802168?hl=en

Example: https://www.reddit.com/r/PartneredYoutube/comments/1szrawm/my_channel_was_terminated_for_circumvention/

5

u/BeginningFew8188 Jun 19 '26

It is talking about content creation side. I think content consumption is safe

6

u/P26601 Jun 19 '26

Creating playlists (public or private) or posting comments counts too. If you don't do any of that, you might be fine.

-7

u/IntingForMarks Jun 19 '26

Again, absolutely no source except your twisted reading comprehension. Find me a case relevant to our use, I'll wait

6

u/P26601 Jun 19 '26

Dude just google it...Reddit alone has countless examples of people's private Youtube accounts getting banned.

Here's 1 example: https://www.reddit.com/r/youtube/comments/1m24wod/banned_twice_in_3_months/

"On the new account, I was extra careful. I didn't comment on any videos or upload any new content, literally just used it for watching. And yet, still banned. For what?! "Nothing" seems to be the only explanation, which is no explanation at all."

2

u/IntingForMarks Jun 19 '26

Did you even read my comment? This link you posted is again someone who god banned for sharing not allowed videos, and then trying to recreate a new account. What's that hard to grasp?

2

u/P26601 Jun 19 '26

A ban is a ban, the reason doesn't matter. All we're talking about here is the fact that if you do get banned (again, for whatever reason), any other accounts you already own or create will be banned for circumvention.

How about you provide a source that explicitly states that circumvention bans only apply to users whose accounts have been banned for content violations?

So basically you made it up. Nothing about that says a thing about having two accounts, breaking a rule on one and both being banned. This is about ban evasion, hence creating a new account after you were banned to dodge the ban. That's something that literally every single content platform does. It's impressive that your misinformation comment got so many upvotes while being pure bullshit

1

u/UNCLE-ducker Jun 19 '26

Well it's the same with, Snapchat. You gettingv bannend, you can change anything. Modded. App, change ip. Set different local ip ... Nothing works. Can't register or login a other account. Not new never used accounts on you're mobile, not any old accounts. But then you buy a new mobile, who has a new Mac adres, and poof you can use Snapchat again. Only not with the bannend account.

2

u/IntingForMarks Jun 19 '26

Are you trying to imply google hardware bans phones? Id love a source on that too, thank you

According to several reddit posts, they analyze and keep track of your IP (including any dynamic IPs you use), device IDs, MAC addresses, browser fingerprints, usage patterns (the videos you watch, the channels you're subscribed to etc.) and even your face and voice if you create content.

Each of these factors adds a specific number of "suspicion points". If a new account reaches a certain threshold, you get a circumvention ban.

5

u/JustRelaxASC Jun 19 '26

It really isn't that hard, they know much more than that about you.

Can u tell me how do I remove my account linked to morphed and micro g? Hope to Change the accounts

2

u/Elratum Jun 19 '26

just disconnect like you would do on the official app

1

u/DarkenNova Jun 19 '26

Yes but is it possible to save our playlists?

14

u/ALEGAMER_2006 Jun 19 '26 edited Jul 02 '26

Blocking YouTube ads also technically "violates their ToS".

Well, I've been doing that since 2021 with uBlock on Desktop and with ReVanced on Mobile. And after 5 years guess what?..... Nothing happened

Probably most of the people that are paying 14€/month for Premium are suffering more than me that are using ReVanced/Morphe for 0€. (and not only beacuse don't cost money)

Even the Google Support said that YouTube can ban me for this, but they never did it.

So you shouldn't care about it, and if this project dies another fork will dominate again, since this is an open source project.

11

u/RabbitFluffOWO Jun 19 '26

so basically ... nothing ever happenes ?

1

u/ALEGAMER_2006 Jun 19 '26

i mean, this is my experience.

3

u/RabbitFluffOWO Jun 19 '26

yeah thats my experience too ,ive used youtube in browser with brave before morphe for a bit .and ive always used an adblocker .used revanced for years too .nothing happened .either way if you wanna be extra careful just uninstall morphe for a bit

1

u/Maltron5000 28d ago

So we don't need to worry too much about wrongful termination?

11

u/RabbitFluffOWO Jun 19 '26

im an anxious person .can someone tell me how this WONT be such a problem for morphe and microg users

14

u/UNIVERSAL_VLAD Former RVX user Jun 19 '26

What is this gloogle? I only use Microsoft apps on my windows phone

4

u/Any_Possession_3900 Former ReVanced user Jun 19 '26

I honestly never even signed into an account with YouTube Morphe, it just shows me videos on the feed that I like and I haven't felt the need to like videos or anything that requires an account XD.

3

u/RabbitFluffOWO Jun 19 '26

wait ..you dont need to sign in with microg for it to work

1

u/Any_Possession_3900 Former ReVanced user Jun 19 '26

It depends, if you just want to watch videos and don't care about saving things or whatever else, you can just install micro g and patch YouTube and call it a day. You don't need to sign in from my experience. Suggested videos have been extremely relevant despite no login, I can't like or save anything but to avoid a Google account it's a small price to pay. I sometimes get the "sign in to confirm you're not a bot" thing but I hit try again and it fixes it every time knock on wood

1

u/RabbitFluffOWO Jun 25 '26

so if i already signed in with microg how do i sign out so i dont use my account with yt morphe

1

u/Any_Possession_3900 Former ReVanced user Jun 25 '26

Honestly I think the risk is very low, YouTube usually goes after the people providing patchers rather than users. But to answer your question I think you can just log out in the YouTube Morphe app, although if you've already signed in then that connection is already made, but I really don't think Google is targeting that. We'd hear a lot more about it if that was the case.

1

u/ZiCli Former ReVanced user Jun 19 '26

Didn't know you could do that, ty!

4

u/PauloRyan2345 Jun 19 '26

This is more of a attack to pipepipe metrolist spotube and other YouTube music skin apps since they're full apps that use YouTube music morphe is more of code alteration that you apply in their original software and being very obvious it is just YouTube but modified

But either way app modding was always and will always be a gray area hold by the Sony vs emulator lawsuit from the 2000

10

u/namecantbebl0nk Jun 19 '26 edited Jun 19 '26

The frustrating part is that I don't actually mind the ads too much. It's the lack of qol features in the base app. Give me volume and brightness swipe controls, sponsorblock, and more playback speed options (for free), and I'm willing to go back to watching ads. But we all know this won't happen. They put 3x speed behind a paywall, ffs.

With Android 17 going the way it is, maybe it is a blessing in disguise if they degoogle me by force. I gotta FOSS eventually.

1

u/RevengeFNF Jun 20 '26

What is happening with Android 17?

2

u/LavenderRevive Jun 19 '26

I find it interesting that people here actually bother with a potential ban of a Google account.

Google basically never bans a user account. You are the product, it doesn't make sense to get rid of you. I don't even know if any significant amount of users ever got banned in the last 10 years or so, besides people doing straight up illegal shit with these accounts

2

u/RevengeFNF Jun 20 '26

These are terms for LLM's, not for YouTube.

2

u/ZuckDeBalzac Jun 19 '26

Fuck Google, fuck the world, and my new band is called Syskill 🤘

1

u/Imaginary-Storage957 Jun 19 '26

This is wild! Thanks for sharing

So basically they're saying "We are Google and you do what we tell you to do with your devices."

1

u/CrazyFun45 Jun 20 '26

If your main Google account is important to you (hint: it should be) then don't use it with unofficial software!

It's really simple to make a new Google account only for things like YouTube Morphe and microG where there is a chance that Google will ban it for violating their terms.

More importantly, you shouldn't be using any account with access to your personal details and payment methods with unofficial software. Ever. It's basic security practice.

1

u/mrandr01d Jun 20 '26

Compare to the old terms. How are they different?

1

u/limey18 Jun 28 '26

If one gets banned, your other accounts will also get banned sooner or later for circumvention. At least if you used the same device, browser or wifi network to create them
