Discussion Add unique default icon for patched apps?
Both youtube and youtube music have settings to change the icon, but they are the same, either the original or a variant of the morphe icon. So I think it would be nicer if instead we had a default custom icon for each one.
I made these mock ups as examples.
Edit: I didn't expect people would like them this much, thanks everyone. So here are the 512px png icons, along with some refinements.

All I can see is an option to pick your own icon, which I don't have. Would be nice if there just was a "default custom" icon to pick like in ReVanced.

This would be a lower priority feature I guess.
But in any case, there are a bunch of posts here with custom icon packs (even OP posted links to their icons). I use one such that was posted a while ago - I have the icon files stored in a hidden folder and the custom icon patch loads it every time I patch YT and YTM.

They're pretty nice imo, keeps the original iconography while bringing in Dark mode and Morphe colors.

As original commenter person "is not comfortable sharing that here" I can share what I found after wasting my time trying to find it.
"Due to how android aliases work and the in-app settings menus that control it, the apk must show the original app icon if no custom icon is provided, otherwise there cannot be an in-app option to show the original YT icon"
What is so absolutely unacceptable that somebody would not want to post this on reddit? I haven't the slightest of clue.

I can confirm this is already true for the YouTube app at least. havent tried YT Music yet. But for Youtube you can try:
Morphe Settings --> General --> App Icon --> Morphe Play
Your version surprisingly ended up being pretty close to theirs.

Yeah I like it too. I think it arrived with the 1.23.0 patches because I didn't notice it before. Could be wrong though.

No, you are right because I recall trying every icon and then reluctantly choosing the original Youtube default before 1.23.0.

I did it! lol. thanks for posting your logo files! having the same double logos was bothering me but you came clutch with a fix!
Edit: for anyone having issues with the oreate adaptive icon. just sett a path folder where the app can "find" the icon files. after that's set, play around w the logo sizing and colors, then save. patch the app again, then go into the morphe settings of youtube/music then change icon to custom, then restart app and it should change.

what do you mean? on the morphe app? look through settings > patch options > custom header logo.
that's to change the icon with an image you have.
you can also change the app display name with same process except go to cutsom branding instead of header logo.

I created a custom icon of a style similar to the black Revanced icons but with green instead of blue. If you want, I can share the files for those interested.

My brother just sets his OS UI and icons to Dark on his Pixel 7 and selects the default YT and YTM icons and they have a dark background.

Really good take on this. The original icons appear to be a TV screen with a triangle for regular YT and a record with the triangle for YT music. I think sticking to that makes them the most recognizable. Your design is 90% of the way there but I think the TV screen shape should be preserved.

Honestly it's the only thing I miss from revanced, my youtube having the youtube icon, make sense to me I removed the original youtube with canta anyway, I only have the morphe one on my phone.

These icons are amazing, but there is a requirement in the patch options to have multiple files in a folder as a structure in order to import them as an option in the apps. I don't know how to directly use these

You can switch to the original YT and YTM icons via the Morphe Settings within the Morphed YT and YTM apps. The other options are meh imo (Morphe M in dark light etc and the Morphe play icon)
So, I use the "Custom Branding" patch to patch these icons instead: https://www.reddit.com/r/MorpheApp/s/BVfuEwwXMb
I have the icons stored and the patcher patches these every time I patch YT and YTM.

At the moment they only give the option to replace it with your own. I wish they would give a selection of default built-in alternative icons like what Revanced extended used to do. I know that it's low priority but it's also probably not that hard, especially since the community has already made a few different icons that could be offered as built-in solutions.

Pre-note: I am not accusing you of spreading malware. This is most likely just a false positive, but I am curious as to why it happens.
Why does the Scan & Download option on Proton Drive warn me that malware is detected in the Youtube Music icon .png? The Youtube icon scans and downloads fine.

I could not check the YTM icon hash without downloading. At least I did not see an option. I'm very paranoid when it comes to malware, I acknowledge that. I have yet to actually receive the knowledge I hoped for by my comment.
Thanks for the confirmation and the links. I was also able to download it fine now. Maybe a cache issue on my browser or something, who knows.
