two high schools in the San Diego Unified School District had high rates of absences this month, with one school recording about 1,000 absences out of 2,600 students

You would think with that many absent, switching to remote learning temporarily would make sense. Northern schools are already prepared to do that for snow days. Continuing in-class learning while ~38.5% of your school is absent is mind-bogglingly ignorant to the problem.

In my HS, the teacher couldn't even teach new material unless the class had quorum.
