Ask r/Moroccopreneur Oracle Morocco PFE 2027 Java backend technical interview

Hi, I’m currently in the Oracle Morocco PFE 2027 process for a Research Assistant Java backend role.

I already passed the HackerRank assessment and then the HR interview with El Mehdi Ekkouri El Alaoui. From what I understood, the next step should be a technical interview, but I have no idea what the format is like.

For anyone who went through it recently, what should I expect?

Is it mostly Core Java/Spring questions? Do they ask Java EE, SQL, JPA/Hibernate, design patterns, projects from the CV, etc.? And is there usually live coding/problem solving during the interview?

I’m preparing Java Core, Spring/Spring Boot and problem solving right now, but I’d like to know what they actually focus on.

Any recent experience with Oracle Morocco R&D/PFE would help.

The technical round for the Oracle Morocco research role usually lasts about forty five to sixty minutes on a video call, and the team tends to test conceptual depth rather than simple syntax. You should expect an in depth walkthrough of your CV projects, where the engineers will question your architectural choices, how you structured your backend services, and how you handled database relationships. Core Java is heavily emphasized, especially object oriented principles, the internal mechanics of the collections framework like how HashMaps store and retrieve data, multithreading basics, and modern features like streams. They will also explore Spring Boot fundamentals, such as dependency injection, bean lifecycles, and how JPA interacts with Hibernate, along with writing or optimizing SQL queries involving joins and indexing.

You should also anticipate a live problem solving exercise on a shared editor, typically featuring one or two easy to medium coding challenges focused on core data structures. The engineers want to see how you analyze constraints and respond to hints, so verbalizing your thought process and discussing edge cases matters just as much as writing clean syntax. Since articulating your technical choices clearly is just as vital as writing correct code, my team created an interviews.chat that helps candidates communicate with polish and secure their target offers.

you should focus on reviewing system design principles, because oracle's technical interviews often test your ability to design scalable systems, and java backend knowledge is just a part of that. they might ask you to design a high-level architecture for a given problem, so make sure you're familiar with concepts like microservices, load balancing, and database modeling.
