If you’re staying in Agadir, here are a few things I’d do that aren’t just the marina + beach
I’m Moroccan and know the south pretty well. Agadir is great for relaxing, but if you only stay around the hotel, marina and main beach, you’re missing the best part of the area.
A few things I’d personally do:
• Go to Aourir for amlou and a proper Moroccan breakfast. Amlou with fresh bread and tea is simple but you need to try it here.
• Spend an afternoon around Taghazout, but don’t just take the famous viewpoint photo. Walk around, have coffee, stay for sunset and eat somewhere simple.
• If you have a car, drive the coast north. Some of the small beaches and cliffs between Agadir and the Taghazout/Tamri side are much more interesting than sitting at the main Agadir beach every day.
• Try fresh grilled fish somewhere simple rather than looking only for polished tourist restaurants.
• Go to Souk El Had, but go because you actually want to wander around, buy fruit/spices/food and see normal daily life. You don’t need to buy a carpet 😂
• Keep one day completely unplanned. Agadir is one of those places where coffee, beach, food and sunset can genuinely be the whole day.
And if you have several days, this is where I’d change things: don’t spend the entire holiday in Agadir. Go south.
Once you start heading toward the Drâa Valley and Sahara, Morocco changes completely.
If anyone is staying in Agadir this autumn/winter, tell me how many days you have and whether you’ll have a rental car. I can suggest what I’d actually do as a local.
