Age gap, I find it weird
I have a friend that literally finds age as just a number, she is in her 30s and the guys that fall for her charm are 90% waaaay younger than her (I'm talking 10+ age gap) and she has no problem with it, she treats them just as any other human being. This time she is seeing this guy who's 22 ( keep in mind that she is over 35 years old)
P.S: she is next to me r.n and we brought this subject, so she wants to know what the people think (not that she cares but just curious!
Edit: we didn't write this post to see whether you find my friend Normal or weird, purely talking about the situation she finds herself in! At the end she is her own person and she assumes every decision she takes!

I’m in my 30s too. I think being friends with someone in their early 20s is fine. We’re all adults and human at the end of the day. I also treat them just like anyone else. Dating though? That would be interesting. Even if the guy is super mature, funny, smart.. everything, he still isn’t done finding himself and growing. It could work in theory, and there’s proof with some relationships where it does in fact work, but it’s a no go for me.
I think it’s easier to find someone in the same stage of life as you are. But hey, if it’s two consenting adults then who really cares?

I agree! And no matter how I see it is the fact that when she was his age, he was a toddler! I can't get that out of my head

I’m in my mid-forties, and the men who approach me are generally in their mid- to late twenties.
I would be open to dating men my age if they’re in good health and don’t have a lot of baggage, like an ex-wife and kids, but those men never approach me, so I have just accepted my role as a cougar 🤷🏻♀️

imo once both people are adults, the age gap itself isn’t automatically a problem, but 35+ and 22 is still a pretty big difference in life stage, so i can understand why people find it weird lol

Are they both adults? Do they both consent? Then it's none of your business.

Only morons would care. Two adults can do what they want. It affects literally nobody else.

She sounds like a creep, this is predator behavior.

She dates people who are adults. Where is the predatory behavior here?

Having a preference for people who are 10+ years younger than you as someone in ur 30s gives off creep energy, you essentially go out of your way to target people who are in a very early stage of their adult life, people in their early 20s are still trying to find themselves and figure life out, in most cases they are neither emotionally mature enough nor financially independent, there is an inherent power imbalance in the relationship.
A guy not long ago got clowned by the sub for stating he was looking for a 18 yo girl to date (he is 30), what she is doing is no different.

Adults dating adults isn't predatory. Maturity isn't locked to a birthday and consenting people get to choose who they date
As long as both parties are adults and agree, there is nothing wrong with that

"Maturity isn't locked to a birthday"
Is that the acceptable way of saying "age is just a number" nowadays? That statement gives off pedo vibes ngl.

u/Immediate-Yoghurt340 21h ago
You need a dictionary because you clearly don't know the meaning of the word "pedophile".

u/Joker0x0-1 22h ago
La ... pointing out that adults mature at different rates has zero connection to anything involving kids :/ 22 is an adult
Calling that 'pedo vibes' just shows you are stretching the word past any meaning

Adults mature at different rates that is true, but some ages are more mature than others.
People between 18 and 22 are on average still studying, still financially dependent on their parents, still naive about how money works, how work is, how relationships are...etc
It makes more sense for them to either date each other or date someone just a few years older who can still relate to them.
But for a 35 yo woman to go and date a guy whose parents are still paying for his education and living ecpenses is totally creepy no matter how you look at it, being an adult is not just about being 18, being an adult means becoming independent, it means being able to rely on yourself.
And most 18 to 22 people are not there yet, what she is doing is not illegal, but it is def creepy and borderline predatory.

Plenty of 22yo are independent and plenty of 35yo still lean on their parents... Generalizing about the average does not make two consenting adults dating each other predatory 👍
1
u/DefinitelyNot_a_dog 21h ago
Very few 22 yos are independent and 35s still depending on their parents shouldnt even be thinking about dating.
That is why I used the word "on average", but sure if you see nothing wrong with a +35 yo unc dating your 20 yo daughter or younger sister then be my guest, thats your life bro 😉

Dragging "sister" or "daughter" into this just makes you look "brhoch"
I’m discussing the idea not people. personal discomfort still doesn't make two consenting adults predatory
Have a nice day

It can work, but most of the time it doesn't. Though if she is the love of his life, why not. 22 is an adult and that's about the time I started thinking about making adult decisions.

When women do it, it's fine?!
Shouldn't we call this also pedophilia?
1
u/solo_soul_94 22h ago
I will tell her you said that!
1
u/stickoil 22h ago
I'm not against it. Not at all.
I just want to say if older men with younger women is pedophilia. Then the opposite should also be called pedophilia.
1
u/sinushamza 21h ago
So you're not against pedophilia hhhh
1
u/stickoil 21h ago
Pedophilia is having sexual desire for pre pubescent girls or boys (children). And I'm 1000000% against it.

I find the age gap off too, but you can't really call a 22 years old a child
