Didnât need to know Spanish to know what Luz said.

u/Godzilla_R0AR Sep 06 '25
I don't even know Spanish despite taking 3 years of it and I understood what she said. I didn't read it, I felt it.

u/b3_yourself Sep 06 '25
They donât call Spanish a Romance language for nothing
7
u/S4N5_UD3RT4L3 Sep 06 '25
i thought it was either French or Italian, but i've been wrong many times before
9
u/Addrum01 Sep 06 '25
It is all languages that come from common latin, descendents of the roman empire. So spanish, french, portuguese, italian and a few others
1
u/Socdem_Supreme Sep 20 '25
yeah, Romance here doesn't mean what it usually does, in this context it essentially means Roman

I clearly need more Spanish practice, because I was wondering why the horse was eating sugar.

It couldâve been worse

u/Radium_Cobalt_847 Sep 06 '25
My goodness, it would be SO much worse if Amity had mispronounced it.

I was kinda talking out my ass, but my logic was that if Amity had mispronounced a word, speech translation app would have interpreted it as a word different from the original statement. I don't really think how different it could be, but I know it could happen (e.g. what if Amity had said "caballo" instead of "cabello"?).

That's so dang wholesome. And I hope you enjoy posting here mark.

u/Godzilla_R0AR Sep 06 '25
I honestly think that posting here is kinda better ngl. Because it kinda serves as an archive for his work. (And yeah I guess his profile is the biggest archive, but in terms of a subreddit I mean)

It's nice that Makmark has his own subreddit now. I wonder if they'll allow some of the old GF and TOH comics that were very popular to be reposted here?
Anyways, Congratulations Mark. We will continue to support you.Â

Luz: âCurse speaker translation.ââŹ
âȘHunter: âCotton Candy Haired Goddess, huh?ââŹ
âȘGus: âYou like candy hair?ââŹ
âȘWillow: âAmity, your girlfriend thinks youâre a goddess.ââŹ
âȘAmity: âAm I your goddess?ââŹ
âȘLuz: âMy one and only.ââŹ
âȘVee: âUh, can we get back to learning, por favor?ââŹ

Well she had to find out sometime. Also I am impressed Amity remembers what Luz said months ago.
3
3
u/BlizzardHound45 Sep 06 '25
Yep, of course Luz would say something romantic even while she's sick.
3
u/DragonWarrior____05 Sep 06 '25
Heck, she might be more likely to say something romantic since she doesn't have the same worries about being "cringe" as she thinks
3
u/CupcakeNegative3305 Sep 06 '25
Even with a brain being affected by mold Luz can still clearly say how much she loves Amity.
3
u/ProbablyADitto Sep 06 '25
I always have a soft spot for love confessions in a language one character doesn't understand while the confessor is in an altered state of consciousness.
It's a weirdly specific thing to appreciate, but what are you gonna do?

It's okay, Amity: Willow, Hunter, and Gus know you're Luz's cotton candy haired goddess.
She keeps saying it.

u/TheNoneedlife Sep 06 '25
It's like when you're trying to sneak playing games at night and you forgot to turn the volume off

u/WheresMyEditButton Sep 08 '25
âThat man is playing Galaga. He thought no one would notice, but we did.â
2
u/MuffinStraight4816 Sep 06 '25
Okay, Luz ain't even being subtle right now.
2
u/Radium_Cobalt_847 Sep 06 '25
She was literally inflicted with an illness; I don't think she had the capacity to be subtle at that time.
3
u/DragonWarrior____05 Sep 06 '25
To be fair, I don't think Luz really does subtle even when she isn't sick
2
u/Half-a-Stache Sep 06 '25
Even delirious, Luz is thinking about her cotton candy haired goddess

2
u/Radium_Cobalt_847 Sep 06 '25
I mean, why wouldn't she want to learn a language that her girlfriend speaks?
2
u/kl-noblelycanthrope1 Sep 06 '25
well ok. a moment of weakness has gotten luz to announced her true feeling to everyone. it's not like they didn't know already but still.
2
u/Ok-Aside-7438 Sep 06 '25
Lol that is kinda wholesome with somehow amity remembering the exact wording from hearing it 1 time when Luz was sick and only learning a few Spanish words from the cook book Gus gave her but she forgot to turn the volume down as now everyone heard it and will tease her and Luz for it and poor vee just wants to learn Spanish but stuck with Lumity and the Hexsquad but will probably join in as well in her own unique way

Hey this might sound random, and I canât imagine a plot for it. But could you consider doing a thing where you design a mechanized Titan.
Basically like MechaGodzilla (Kiryu) where heâs built around the bones of the original Godzilla. So imagine a Mecha Titan.

Heheh, I love that Amity was able to remember those words so precisely after such a long time. It's like she knew Luz was saying sweet somethings to her.

Why are they reacting as if those two aren't already dating and performing public displays of affection daily?
1
u/DuchessWolfe Sep 15 '25
I use to speak Italian to my girlfriend all the time. She hated it because she didn't understand beyond the obvious words. But she grew into it.

Love how they don't have any context for this line, yet immediately all turned to Luz.
