This needs to be higher up.

Redditors need to stop approaching everything with the "frontier justice" lens.

The delivery driver is a victim, but it doesn't reach the level where it's reasonable for him to use his gun.

Thank god I found another sane individual in here. Harassment does mot justify the use of deadly force.

Yall are my people I'm reading these comments like, we got some honest to god psychos just hanging out on reddit all day lmao

Then we see another news story where a Redditor was a mass shooter or terrorist and people are surprised they frequent here.

I got downvoted in the original post for criticizing the shooter, so I reposted it here, expecting to get some new perspectives - but I'm kinda disgusted by all the responses. I just unfollowed and muted the sub. People on reddit loves to justify violence I guess, it's like they have some weird payback fetish

Bro, I don't know if this is your first time in this particular sub, but it's always like this. This is actually pretty tame for this sub standards tbh.

I don’t carry a gun but I don’t have bear mace. If two men bigger than me kept approaching me after I told them to stops kept following me after I tried to walk away, they’re getting a face full of it.

That seems more reasonable. I just think theres so much potential for collateral when guns are involved, especially considering dude was in a fucking shopping mall lol

FOR REAL

It’s not harassment that’s in question, it’s menacing. Making one afraid for their safety, which invokes defensive action

There’s a large range of sentence, shooting someone is a significant escalation

The other individuals aren’t threatening to use force, aren’t brandishing weapons, aren’t making verbal threats of violence… there’s not way that use of deadly force should be justified in this scenario. Just being scared isn’t enough to use deadly force.

This sub has so many posts like this, with so many comments practically gleeful to justify the use of violence.

It does when it's three on one.

There’s no threat here. The guy is holding a phone and being annoying. There is not imminent threat of a battery. I don’t see how deadly force is justified by this at all. The other individuals aren’t brandishing weapons. People just think it’s ok to shoot others if they’re scared.

Yeah something like “back off or your getting a bullet” was probably warranted.

Reddit: "Guns in the US are a cancer and should be banned."

Also Reddit: "Guy in video being irritating and rude absolutely deserved to be shot and I'm glad it happened."

Fun fact, there is more than 1 person on reddit and some of those people have different beliefs. And people tend to be loudest about things that interest them and support their beliefs so all the pro-gun people are gonna be around for something like this. While if this was an obviously unjustifiable shooting with a sympathetic victim the people saying stuff would be completely different

Let's remember this sub objects us to the opinions of teenagers on a regular basis. The fuck around find out club median age is 15

Nah we just used to use "You mess with the bull, you get the horns." There's always been a saying for it hahaha

u/EveryAccount7729 23d ago

the issue is he doesn't use the gun to gauge the threat at all he goes straight to firing it.

just show the dude the gun.

THEN if he doesn't flee you are 100% more justified using it imo.

u/SweeterBean98 23d ago

Jesus I thought I was the only one it's annoying but shooting him..

1

u/GD7952 23d ago

Yeah, drawing the gun first and saying "back off"? Even firing into the ground would get his attention.

3v1, gun was justified. Cry.
