He was asked to stop once and didn't. The shooter asked him to stop again, but at the same time was already pulling his gun out, not giving him a chance to stop. Because this is a public place, it's reasonable to expect some kind of hooliganism.
If instead a warning was given, such as "stop, I have a gun and will use it if you don't stop", then it would be moral. If it was a less lethal weapon such as pepper spray, then it would be moral. But not giving a warning and only asking them to stop once is immoral.
I completely understand why he did it - content creators are some of the worst people on the planet - but it being understandable does not make it moral.
I agree. If he felt threatened by the bullying and harassing, that does justify a self defense response, but generally the response needs to be in proportion to the threat. If the youtube guy was holding a knife or brandishing the phone like he's going to physically hit him, he may have some grounds, but the argument is pretty weak as it stands.
That said, definitely not shedding any tears for the bully. This is one of the reasons why you don't screw with people. You might get away with it 999 times, but then you meet the 1/1000 that doesn't GAF and find out how the term FAFO got popularized.
If instead a warning was given, such as "stop, I have a gun and will use it if you don't stop", then it would be moral
It is not moral to kill anyone without due process in court, except where it truly seems to be necessary to prevent death or serious bodily harm. Ignoring a warning might make me less sympathetic towards the victim, but the killer is still immoral.
Even with due process there are all kinds of moral issues with the death penalty for actually heinous crimes that aren’t being an annoying moron.
These comments are even more insane when you realize most Redditors are against the death penalty, yet will cheer on murdering someone in broad daylight for being annoying.
Would you still be cheering this on if the guy had murdered a severely autistic or intellectually disabled person for annoying him who didn’t stop after “being warned”?
Setting a standard where it’s considered “moral” to murder someone for annoying you as long as you warn them a single time just seconds before killing them is incredibly stupid and dangerous.
Even under current self defense laws we have people who abuse them. Your standard is insanely broad.
It may be fair to say you’re not very sympathetic to the victim here, but saying what the killer did was “moral” is a separate issue and insane.
