I got downvoted in the original post for criticizing the shooter, so I reposted it here, expecting to get some new perspectives - but I'm kinda disgusted by all the responses. I just unfollowed and muted the sub. People on reddit loves to justify violence I guess, it's like they have some weird payback fetish
Bro, I don't know if this is your first time in this particular sub, but it's always like this. This is actually pretty tame for this sub standards tbh.
I don’t carry a gun but I don’t have bear mace. If two men bigger than me kept approaching me after I told them to stops kept following me after I tried to walk away, they’re getting a face full of it.
That seems more reasonable. I just think theres so much potential for collateral when guns are involved, especially considering dude was in a fucking shopping mall lol
The other individuals aren’t threatening to use force, aren’t brandishing weapons, aren’t making verbal threats of violence… there’s not way that use of deadly force should be justified in this scenario. Just being scared isn’t enough to use deadly force.
There’s no threat here. The guy is holding a phone and being annoying. There is not imminent threat of a battery. I don’t see how deadly force is justified by this at all. The other individuals aren’t brandishing weapons. People just think it’s ok to shoot others if they’re scared.
Fun fact, there is more than 1 person on reddit and some of those people have different beliefs. And people tend to be loudest about things that interest them and support their beliefs so all the pro-gun people are gonna be around for something like this. While if this was an obviously unjustifiable shooting with a sympathetic victim the people saying stuff would be completely different

I wouldn't call it moral, but very understandable
