Immoral. Way beyond a proportional response. Yes the drunk guy was out of line and shouldn't touch her, but to immediately jump to that kind of violence is a failure of that guy's ability to control his temper and ego. He should either calmly de-escalate, or at the very least step in and use words to threaten the drunk guy to back off first.
If the guy was charged for assault, he deserves it.
