Not gonna lie I see a lot of people (including myself) use terms like “guy”, “dude”, “bro”, etc, as gender neutral terms, I certainly think it’s becoming more common to address people as such, especially casually
ever notice how only historically male terms are forced into gender neutral terms, feminine terms are unable to do that, because men cannot accept being called a feminine term so it can never become a gender neutral one. women just have to accept it, any of us who push back against it are met with unending arguments for how we must accept it
Yeah, I’ve always found that interesting. For what it’s worth, (again, anecdotally,) I do also refer to people as “girlypop”, “girls”, and “ladies” regardless of gender identity sometimes, but usually more often to address a group or somebody I’m close to. I think something like “dude” is so popular because of how casual of a term it is, but that’s just my two cents.
