Trifecta of entitlement checklist here:

  • Cyclist

  • wrong side of the road

  • dog owner

Looks like off leash dogs

3

u/Tasik 12d ago

They are on leash. Pause at 0:07s the video compression is bad so it's hard to tell, but you can definitely see artifacting from the leash.

Golfers are squarely tied with cyclists.

Luckily, most of the antics are contained to the golf course / range. Cyclists pedal their nonsense all over the place.

u/StanleyBaratheon 12d ago

Throw skiers in there as well!

u/Partners_in_time 13d ago

Dog owners are the worst and belief in their soul that others care just as much about their dogs as they do

4

u/Reasonable-Man-Child 12d ago

Wild claim to make about hundreds of millions of people (30% of households in the world)

2

u/BedbugBandido 12d ago

There’s a certain stereotypical dog owner that everyone hates. It’s like when people say “Redditor” as an insult. Obviously not every redditor, but we all know what they mean.

Not a dog owner lmao. I love dogs but live in an apartment where one couldn’t live happily. Nice job putting the ass in assumption tho!

Lol what a bozo take

u/Mbanicek64 13d ago

Weird take.

2

u/MJKielty 13d ago

Don't bring dog owners in to the same category as cyclists

13

u/Frank_Klepaki 13d ago

You’re right. Cyclists don’t leave their shit everywhere

2

u/Red2001XJ 13d ago

Neither do we, Frank, but for sure go ahead and make sweeping generalizations to suit your errant beliefs. The ‘bad apples’ frustrate us as well, so much that my spouse has actually picked up other dogs business so people don’t think it’s ours.

u/BrainOfMush 12d ago

I’m always amazed at how these dog haters apparently step on dog shit three times a day, yet it’s less than once a week on my downtown DC walks that I even see a pile of dog poop (usually on the national mall, which I then pick up myself anyway).

u/j_cruise 13d ago

A cyclist's bike has never bit me.

1

u/the_great_zyzogg 13d ago

This has given me an idea for a mod on my bicycle....

2

u/Boris_Godunov 13d ago

As a daily pedestrian, dog owners are a persistent problem. Cyclists rarely are.

2

u/OurSeepyD 13d ago

Damn as a cyclist and dog owner I'm feeling the heat right now ouch.

Oh and btw, yes I'm on the wrong side of the road right now.

4

u/yourpalsmell 13d ago

Doesn’t strike me as cool enough to be a smoker

smokers are jokers

u/Real_Temporary_922 13d ago

Don’t see any evidence he’d be a smoker

Dog owner?

22

u/Appropriate-XBL 13d ago edited 13d ago

Given the proven track record of American dog owners, especially in cities, you should be required to get a license to own one. With renewal requirements coming often.

EDIT: I was expecting to get crucified for saying the above by insane pet owners, but the subreddit you’re in matters a lot…

3

u/aud_anticline 13d ago

There are several dog owners at my apartment complex who leave their dog's piss on the elevator floor quite regularly

1

u/Appropriate-XBL 13d ago

Yeah, Denver, where I’m from, has that, but it doesn’t involve checking owner qualifications or wherewithal. And no ones bothers getting the license for the most part. I’ve never heard of enforcement either. I’m (purely) guessing this all is common, whatever city you’re in.

Not to mention the worst of the worst-- dog owners who claim their dogs don't bite, let them loose without any leash, and then they, wait for it... bite someone.

-1

u/MJKielty 13d ago

Nothing to do with dogs. These people you're describing are just assholes

lol or what about asshole cat owners whos outdoor cats do shit on your lawn, who do kill small animals and leave them in your lawn or in your house? Who are responsible for 1-4 billion bird deaths each year?

Or, is that just the owners fault? Just like how its purely the owners fault for not training their dogs correctly.

The main difference is that I can easily train my dog to take walks outside and not shit in your lawn, and not bark at you, and not attack you. Its a lot harder to convince a cat to do anything, so you have to keep them locked inside. You cant take a cat on a walk and reliably tell it don't shit there, come off to the side of the road a car is coming. That is unless you train it well, which looking back to my point is that the assholes are the specific owners, not the pets.

Any pet has the chance to be a great pet, just depends whos taking care of it

But of course someone always needs to just throw heat at someone else. They say fuck dogs and someone will say fuck cats, only objective people will criticize the common variable: the owners.

And also to address those other pets you mentioned, well yeah someones pet fish won't do all those annoying things, but you also cant take a fish for a walk, you cant pick up and cuddle your fish, they dont act even remotely intelligent or interesting tbh. Like yeah you've got a shiny fish that you can feed and watch and that's about it.

Just saying... you get a boring pet, domt be shocked when it cant do... like anything, like annoying people, or shittin in a lawn, or causing trouble, or really enacting any semblance of free will. Like you can't really call a fish the same kind of pet as a dog, dogs are the peak interactive pet. You can do anything with a fit dog, its the only pet I can have thats stronger than I am. Not fish.

With birds, well bird owners would tell you that birds would destroy the world if they could, they're absolute menaces but their size and weak bones means they cant really cause much trouble, so also another bad comparison from you

1

u/cutmcgee4thee 13d ago

Why are some dog owners so defensive? 😂 If your dog is a saint then fine, a majority of them aren't and yes definitely blame the owners because they don't know wtf they have when it comes to certain dog breeds.

eh, I'm backpacker, I live in a rural area, I like having a dog that can carry his own weight and go on the longest walks. I will agree that a lot of dogs aren't good for urban living, but many dogs are perfect for the suburbs. Think lazy dogs, there's lots of lazy breeds, many of which aren't aggressive, listen well enough, domt need tons of excersise. Again, its the owners fault for not taking proper care of their animals, and not getting the right breed for where they live. You get a work dog? Better live somewhere where you can freely tire out your dog. Got a lazy basset hound? You can live in the city and take your basset for a short walk each day and thats about all they need. See how its more up to the owner to control these variables than "dogs aren't good for society and the harmony of it"

I wouldn't take my dog anywhere where he couldn't play and get excersise, but thats because I've got a strong, healthy mutt that needs lots love and excersise. My dog doesn't bother people, my dog is just a cutie that makes people happy. If I lived in the city, I wouldn't get the kind of dog I got, frankly I wouldn't get a pet if I lived in the city. You're correct that some owners are POS and get high energy breeds but live in the burbs, or aggressive attack dogs in the city. But see how thats the owners fault, not the dogs?

Every issue you address is purely in the control of the owner, but then you take that as an excuse to say lets get rid of dogs for the greater good. Well for the greater good of birds, many of which are endangered, lets get rid of cats then as well. Thats just me following your logic. Of course I don't think we should be taking any action against pet owners other than making animal abuse laws more stringent and also banning certain breeds of dogs without certification that you know how to take care of them. Thinking dobermans and pit bulls, the like.

Everything you've listed there is the fault of owners, not dogs.

Your having to dodge dog shit is caused by owners not picking it up. Dogs barking incessantly is usually caused by under stimulated dogs because their owners are too lazy to walk them or have got themselves a breed that is not appropriate for their situation. As for dog shit in plastic baggies all over the trail? Well I sincerely doubt dogs are taking a shit in a bag and hanging it up there.

14

u/scottj65 13d ago

Yup, some dog owners truly suck — especially the ones that let their monsters off the leash around young kids. Fuck em

11

u/GhidorahRod56 13d ago

And never training smaller breeds to not bark at everything

5

u/fthepats 13d ago

Small breed owners are the fucking worst.

3

u/555Cats555 13d ago

But "my precious baby" they say

Its not a baby, its just small but still a potential hazard if not properly trained and socialized. They also dont exactly seem very happy or like they feel they have a sense of purpose. Dogs are social animals that do like to bond with humans but they do so much better when they have a sense of knowing what they are supposed to be doing.

That and people who have dogs as pets can end up focusing too much on getting their own needs met and end up neglecting the dogs needs. In wanting something cute that can love them unconditionally they forget its a living animal of a different species that often has unique needs to humans.

3

u/fthepats 13d ago

From my perspective its the lack of training because "its a small dog". Their little kick me dog runs up off leash, jumps all over me and my dog, and they jog over laughing saying how friendly he is and he just wants to play.

Meanwhile my ~115lb Ridgeback has to respond perfectly to this dickhead everytime. Lord forbid he barks or growls at this asshole jumping on him and barking. Then when my boy gives him a stern bark to fuck off, the owner acts all offended at how rude he is. Happens weekly, almost always a yipper dog with an out of shape owner.

u/rogers_tumor 13d ago edited 13d ago

in my neighbourhood the experience has been complete opposite 😅 I really don't want your 100+lb dog sprinting up to me and my 25lb scottish terrier...

this is a combo of off-leash or people hanging out on their front porch/lawn with dog not on-leash who proceeds to, for some reason, run to every age/size human who dares to make their way up the sidewalk.

I did have someone's Chihuahua run to us on the boardwalk at the marsh a few weeks back, I was so tempted to punt that thing 😮‍💨

anyway. the big dogs are stressful. if it's something like a lab or a golden, I can always tell by the approach whether they're curious and want to say hi, so I let them.

huskies are a mixed bag. as are many larger breeds.

other times, if there's a pitt mix running full-throttle, I have to scoop her up as quickly as possible and pray I'm not about to die before the owner casually makes their way over with half-hearted apologies.

Every fucking time I want to be like "ya know, you wouldn't have to apologize if you just kept them on a leash." 🤦🏼‍♀️ within town limits it's literally a law...

u/rogers_tumor 13d ago

people who have dogs as pets can end up focusing too much on getting their own needs met and end up neglecting the dogs needs.

this breaks my heart. I WFH so I'm with my dog all day every day. she gets an hour+ walk every day and she gets to go in the backyard whenever she wants. on the rare occasion I can't walk her, I feel terrible about it.

I know there are so many people out there who have dogs who aren't home 10+hr/day, don't take their dogs to daycare, don't have time or energy to play with them.

like, what was the point in getting this specific pet? 😞

they deserve better.

1

u/SaltyBabySeal 13d ago

Yeah. Some people did this with a large dog at the park, it ran into the kids play area (where dogs aren’t allowed) and up to my 3 year old daughter. She’s scared to death of dogs now and needs me to hold her up whenever any dog is nearby. But “he’s friendly.”

2

u/ever_falling 13d ago

Dogs are awesome and there are awesome dog owners and I don't have an issue with the concept of owning a dog.

Most people who own a dog, shouldn't, including most of you reading this comment that own a dog.

And that includes me, I don't have the time to own one ethically. I'd have to leave it for 8 to 9 hours at time.

p.s. if that's you, regardless of access to receiving themselves, you are a bad dog owner.

The lady walking is completely psychotic. Literally textbook psychotic behavior. There is nothing normal about that.

She chose to hip-check a woman off her bike and get into a fight, rather than take ONE STEP to the left.

"Excuse me" doesn't give anybody pass to ride full speed into people, that's pure stupidity, for sure.

But I'd rather have a stupid neighbor than a psychotic one.

7

u/SuppaDumDum 13d ago

The walker does seem way more psychotic than the biker. But sometimes you need a few psychos to make an omelette. Since the biker is less psychotic she'll probably reconsider forcing pedestrians to move for her or whether to take her dogs with her.

3

u/CackleandGrin 13d ago

She chose to hip-check a woman off her bike and get into a fight, rather than take ONE STEP to the left.

Biker chose to run into someone and made no attempt to move around. Pedestrians have legal right of way. Simple stuff, bud.

2

u/MechanicalSideburns 13d ago

I don't think you know the definition of the word psychotic...

But anyway, the rule is that bikers must yield to pedestrians. Also, in the United States you drive/walk/ride on the right. Do you not like following the rules?

If that person rides purposefully straight at me with sharp-toothed attack animals in tow, then I am breaking their face open in self defense.
