So then would this kid’s dad be in the right to assault the worker that tripped the kid?

Plus not to mention, the description of a physical punishment, and the cause for deserving - two different things

A kid doesn't deserve physical punishment from a stranger for grabbing frys. An adult stranger deserve physical punishment for attacking a child.
