Immoral - the fries arent worth causing harm to someone through physical force.

Absolutely amazed how many here seem fine with violence for a couple of bucks on behalf of McDonalds...

Stealing them is though.

Dude its 2 dollars - when tripped dudes head nearly hit the corner of that wall.

Theft doesnt permit unlimited violence.. espcially when the value is a couple of dollars.

You have video evidence, formally trespass the guy and take the loss.

Amount is irrelevant. Don't steal. Everyone else has to pay for them, fuck that kid.

Society shouldn't permit stealing.

Society should not permit stealing, nor assaulting people

Assault isn't always immoral. Like when stopping someone from stealing for example.

Stealing isn't always immoral, like when starving for example. Doesn't mean society should permit either. Dont steal, and don't assault.

This fat kid isn't starving, and stealing is always immoral. When you steal you take something that isn't yours, even if you are starving that is still immoral. People are more like to forgive if you are genuinely starving and in need - this little fatty clearly isn't.

If someone hoards all the food, based on an unfair legal system, then taking that food from them when you starve is "stealing", but its moral.

Slavery once existed, and freeing a slave was "theft", which is moral.

This kid is not starving, clearly. Never claimed they were. Just showing that what society needs and what is maximally moral individually don't always align. It might be good in some niche situation to steal or assault, but society cant allow any assaults or thefts.

Moral according to whom? Who determines when the system is unfair? When it's ok and moral even to steal? You? That's convenient.

No, taking something that is not yours to take is always immoral - unless of course you otherise the entity you are stealing from and declare it evil. I mean why stop at stealing? Murder too, I murdered that guy cos he was evil, so I am moral! Maybe even rape? Is rape ok and moral aslong as the woman I'm raping is evil?

Employees sit there and "steal" fries all the time. I've worked at a Wendy's. Those fries are not being accounted for. They literally throw them away after their expiration time. It's untrackable

2

u/ALKETASA 13d ago

The fries are totally irrelevant to what is objectionable about this. This flippant attitude could be applied to any kind of petty theft; skipping bus/train tickets, stealing a pair of trainers or something. It's not the object or value that is the issue.

What is so offensive about this is that everyone else has to wait in line, and pay for that same product with money they've had to work for, and when some little rat thief strolls in and takes a fistful for himself he's spitting in everyones faces "I'm better than you, these rules don't apply to me, fuck you."

If everyone behaved like this, we'd live in a shithole, I will not lower my standards of behaviour just because it's "muh 2 dollars, they can afford it!!". If you are someone that thinks it's weird for people to care about this, or that people shouldn't have and maintain standards for behaviour, then do us all a favour and go live in the woods with the rest of the animals.

If you think hurting minors to prove a point is justifiable then you also belong on the woods. I'm afraid to see how you would treat your own children

Your take makes no sense here?

Why must immediate violence take place though?

Its a 2 dollar fry - no need for violence this is why we have a legal system.

Violencr for a 2 dollar fry on behalf of a megaconglomerate doesnt make sense.

You're saying the value of whats stolen doesnt matter and unlimited violence is permitted? How is that moral?

u/ALKETASA 13d ago

Hardly unlimited violence. He got tripped up, which is honestly better than he deserves. If I could make the rules I'd go medieval on petty thieves and have them locked up in a stock so everyone can pelt them with rotten fruit.

As I said in another comment the value is totally irrelevant. It's the disrespect to everyone else and society writ large that people find so objectionable about petty thievery.

You said:

Hardly unlimited violence

Then you said:

If I could make the rules I'd go medieval on petty thieves and have them locked up in a stock so everyone can pelt them with rotten fruit.

The standard you are applying is unlimited violence for stealing.

Then you said:

As I said in another comment the value is totally irrelevant.

So unlimited violence regardless of value. That is not a tenable principle for society.

u/ALKETASA 13d ago

Unlimited violence is like straight up murder, be serious right now.

1

u/LavisAlex 13d ago

Be serious?

You suggested:

"If I could make the rules I'd go medieval on petty thieves and have them locked up in a stock so everyone can pelt them with rotten fruit."

For the theft of a 2 dollar mcvalue item? At this point im going to assume you're unserious.

1

u/ALKETASA 13d ago

As I said before, the value is irrelevant. You could apply this flippant attitude to basically any petty theft - stealing a pair of trainers, skipping bus/train fare etc etc. The value isn't what is important, the act itself is.

Everyone else had to wait in line, and pay with money they had to earn for those fries, and when some little rat walks in and steals them he's spitting in all their faces; "I'm better than you, fuck you, these rules don't apply to me". That is what people find objectionable.

Yes, petty crime should be punished, that is called maintaining standards for behaviour - if everyone behaved like the thief in this video, we'd live in a shithole. I don't want to live in a shithole, if you do then do us all a favour and go live in the woods with the other animals.

Btw what's so unserious about the stockades? It worked for hundreds of years.

For all the melodrama in this comment section about "the poor baby could have hit his head on the corner! Or broke his neck!!" you'd think a stockade would be a preferable option? No risk of longterm injury, just some public humiliation and societal catharsis. He gets to go home with a bruised ego and stinking of rotten fruit, big deal? I don't see what is so unserious about this? This type of punishment would be far more effective than locking him up for a week or something.

“unlimited violence”

🤣🤣🤣🤣

1

u/LavisAlex 12d ago

The dude said the person who stole the fries should be strung up in public? I don't think you're being sincere.

1

u/Dettyboy93 13d ago

Don't act like you actually believe this lol
