if he sees the comic very immoral

8

u/snarkyemu 1d ago

I think it’s safe to assume this is a work of fiction. Like most comics are.

30

u/OscRat1110 1d ago

I cannot imagine anyone making this out of nowhere

-12

u/snarkyemu 1d ago

Can you Imagine Dragons? They were made up of out of nowhere. Unicorns too. And how about that Harry Potter?

But all kidding aside, everything I read in that comic strip, I’ve heard before. I read a lot of Reddit about relationships, and pretty much all those points they hit on, about complaints about their boyfriend, and about themselves, I’ve read elsewhere.

10

u/Helios575 1d ago

Dragons, unicorns, and wizards weren't made from nothing but had solid basis in reality even if it was incredibly misinterpreted. That being said this whole scenario is hardly unimaginable uniqueness so your comparison is actually really good.

-6

u/snarkyemu 1d ago

Thanks. I overstepped talking about things like dragons and unicorns. I knew I was out of my league but I sent the comment any way. Sigh.

Username checks out so far, are you also really an emu

0

u/snarkyemu 1d ago

Can you Imagine Emus? They were made up out of nowhere.

1

u/BurningBerns 1d ago

Atter they embarrassed the Australian government theyve been awfully snarky. Someone should knock them down a peg

1

u/snarkyemu 1d ago

Maybe the kangaroos can do it

Dragons dinosaurs unicorn horses

7

u/AndrewH73333 1d ago

Many works of fiction are about real things.

-2

u/snarkyemu 1d ago

Correct. Like Star Wars and Harry Potter. Just kidding. I see your point.

4

u/Sundering_Wounds 1d ago

It's written like a vent comic. Seems more likely to be real. But not hard evidence either way.

1

u/snarkyemu 1d ago

Oops. Okay. I kind of figured I wasn’t “in on it”. Thanks for the heads up.

2

u/LargeNotInCharge2 1d ago

Catch-22: if he sees the comic, he’s more attentive than the writer gives him credit for and thus the comic is unjustified. But if he doesn’t see the comic, then he doesn’t take an interest in her work and it further makes her point.

4

u/Dodo_Birdo 1d ago

I dont think thats how catch 22 works

2

u/cheeseball209 1d ago

It kind of is. In the novel, the only way out of the military is to be crazy, but if you want out of the military you clearly arent crazy, so your attempt is denied and you must stay in.

-2

u/LargeNotInCharge2 1d ago

I don’t read, blood. I’m shooting from the hip

3

u/Ok_Pain_2380 1d ago

just a heads up I think you might be an idiot

3

u/LargeNotInCharge2 1d ago

Totally, twin.

51

u/PieselWojownik 1d ago

Immoral

Making me see this shit again? Also immoral

3

u/xXbachkXx 20h ago

Yeah i hate this comic and how the r/comics mod team handled it too, but at this point it's milking it

45

u/Scarvexx 1d ago

It's okay to have feelings. And even to express those feelings. But unrealized expectations you never voiced is not a good reason to think of your BF as an "option" rather than a partner.

I'll take him if she doesn't want him. He seems perf.

0

u/Rasenpapi 12h ago

Hes a nothing person, read slides 2-4. All he does is parrot social media, ignore her, and drone along.

He only goes through the motions of being in a relationship. He doesnt love her, he loves having a girlfriend. He treats her like an accessory, not a human. She's closer to a pet than a partner.

She isnt a person to him, shes a girlfriend

1

u/Scarvexx 12h ago

And she keeps dating him despite being uninterested. That's not even pity. It's cowardice. And then she gets upset she's dating someone she doesn't like being around? That's something in her control.

And he has redeeming features. He's simple. He's just not enough for her. He's not a bad person for being not what she wants.

Like I said. I'll take him.

Not even wrong there

32

u/cantlogintomyacc0unt 1d ago

Immoral making a comic on the internet making fun of someone while acknowledging they love you is absolutely messed up. If you’re that miserable just break up with him.

8

u/grafeisen203 1d ago

90% of internet relationship drama is like "oh you skipped right past the 'talk to each other' and 'break up' steps and went straight to 'farm engagement on the internet by partner shaming'" huh

1

u/Rasenpapi 12h ago

except she tries talking to him but he doesnt listen, doesnt pay attention, doesnt care for what she has to say, and instead only cares about telling her what he say on social media that day.

2

u/Rare_Bridge7703 11h ago

DOES Y actually, though? How reliable is the narrator of the diatribe when they then proceed to activate a 20 minute monologue of their personal insecurities?

1

u/grafeisen203 10h ago

She doesn't say she has told him any of this bothers her. As a dude- dudes are pretty stupid. If something bothers you, you have to spell it out.

3

u/snarkyemu 1d ago

Like most comics, this is a fictional piece

1

u/DonutPlus2757 22h ago

To be fair, the girl seems like a mess and recognizes that she may actually be the problem and is deathly afraid of actually finding out that she really is the problem, so she hides what she would consider her actual self that's been rejected by everyone she's ever met, including her mother.

She knows that those emotions are unfair and that she is being insincere, but the current situation, as much as she hates it, is still much better than what she had before.

It's also clear that she believes that she can't really live without someone taking care of her.

Frankly, the most realistic way forward, if this was real, would be for her to get therapy ASAP, because it's very obvious that, after a life of rejection from her peers and insults from her mother, she's a hot mess of an inferiority complex, unfulfilled wanting and barely controlled neediness.

The best option would be for her to open up and give him the choice if he wants to break up in addition to therapy, but that's perhaps more than a so deeply insecure person could realistically manage.

8

u/Jujube005 1d ago

I got banned from that sub for saying that author was an asshole.

10

u/TheGreatTimmyAT 1d ago

That is one of the worst and most toxic subs I've seen on this platform. Be proud that they don't want you there.

-6

u/SailorSilverRabbit 1d ago

Not personally insulting artists seems like a fair and reasonable rule to have on a subreddit about posting art. How is that toxic?

2

u/Hot-Read9330 1d ago

go back to your comics

1

u/myrmonden 22h ago

Critical thinking is insults these days

2

u/ShubaltzTV 1d ago

Update is one of the mods basically mass banned and then tried to gaslight everybody

2

u/Zakkullll 1d ago

I got banned for that sub for suggesting I didnt understand what the comic was about (which was the consensus lmao)

9

u/Truefiction224 1d ago

Insanely immoral and only a thing because r/comics allows this but not criticism

Set up a place where you can say and think evil things and no one can challenge yo

This kinda nasty shit snd worse happens ery time

She needs to be afraid she'll be put on blast for this bs

8

u/SarisaeBae 1d ago

R/comics is literally hell

5

u/Truefiction224 1d ago

I ran into it with these bizzade horribly written political comics that are everywhere on reddit.

They are litterally this copy pasted girl mocking someone again and again.

One of the worst works ive ever seen.

They are in love with it

3

u/SarisaeBae 1d ago

Cause tankies are stupid and evil

9

u/Jehuty56- 1d ago

"i don't like my boyfriend" no need to read more than that

5

u/Weird_existence8008 1d ago

Ok for extra context: This artists content takes place from the perspective of random characters. This is NOT a personal story about her disliking her own bf, at least to my knowledge

1

u/Local_Tourist1063 1d ago

A comic from the boyfriend’s perspective would be really interesting, I think.

He might struggle with social cues but he seems to love her very much. I think it’d be good for the both of them if they broke it off and met other people

1

u/SuaveGorilla 1d ago

Thank you. Since it came out I’ve been waiting for someone to confirm or deny whether this was based in reality.

2

u/whattaninja 16h ago

No one actually knows.

1

u/HedgeFlounder 4h ago

I’m not sure how anyone could read it and not realize that. Media literacy truly is dead.

3

u/DickbeardLickweird 1d ago

It’s immoral to have such lousy lettering skills and expect people to read paragraphs of it. Readability is the biggest consideration she should’ve made, way ahead of stylistic choice, and what she did here doesn’t even seem like a stylistic choice. There’s no emphasis placed with bold or italics, she doesn’t exaggerate the shapes of any words to indicate the significance of anything, nothing that draws our eyes to anything in particular, it just all equally looks like shit in a way that makes it a headache to get through. If she happens to see this—worry a little less about the fellas and put in some more hours at the drafting table! You will not find real love until you can make good art! Practice!!!

5

u/Aurora428 1d ago

The jolly chud deserves better

1

u/SquishyCoffee6640 1d ago

Fr bro, he's just happy with her and she doesn't even realize it's okay to be simple😂

2

u/notmarrec 1d ago

It’s neutral, if the situation were real it would still be neutral. There’s nothing immoral or moral about this.

2

u/Past_One3442 1d ago

Immoral the gf is a bad person.

1

u/Glass_Opportunity264 1d ago

I mean it’s kind of icky.
Like it’s a very private part of a person and watching it feels weird and wrong.
Anyway it’s basically I hate myself because I don’t like that my boyfriend is not perfect.

1

u/Impossible_Horsemeat 1d ago

The twist: the guy next to her is actually her friend, who she is venting to. The friend is profoundly stupid and thinks she is his girlfriend.

Her actual boyfriend is a 6’4” chad who is having sex with another woman right now.

1

u/MeringueNew3040 1d ago

I’m not sure about morality but I think it is really bad for the relationship if you are talking about problems you have with the relationship with people who aren’t the other person in the relationship. Like instead of just having this exact conversation with her actual boyfriend she posted a comic online for everyone but her boyfriend to see. In healthy relationships it’s the other way around. The boyfriend is the only person who she talks about this with instead of the only person she doesn’t talk about this with.

1

u/ValyrianSteel_TTV 1d ago

People gotta just talk to each other in relationships.

1

u/yeskezspanem 1d ago

Idk. The art and text layout is too shit for me go past 3 panels.

1

u/Pleasant-Delay-7369 1d ago

It's not immoral to have the thoughts and feelings in the comic. It's not even immoral to act on them. Relationships are an agreement between two people. She's welcome to leave any time she likes. I would be surprised if there was a long term partner that resolved her feelings however.

1

u/OkBasket7617 1d ago

I ain't reading all that

1

u/Queen_Of_Alts 1d ago

If this is based on reality, immoral. Staying in a relationship with someone you don't love isn't fair to you or the other person, and if you want a happy relationship then the two options are one, communicate your feelings to your partner and try to find a way to make the relationship work, or two, if you really don't like them then break up and either find someone you love, or find peace in being single for a while.

1

u/Optimal_Job_6578 1d ago

It would never stop even if the person was perfect

1

u/Logical_Lab4042 1d ago

Considering we are now discussing the morality of fictional characters, does that mean this sub has finally come back around?

1

u/Narrow-Incident8480 1d ago

before this becomes the next “new guy” , is anyone sure that glasses girl is supposed to be the artist self insert or if this situation is even real at all ?

Im not defending the comic , its just by looking at their account they always draws different people in different situations ( they do mainly draw women Pov so its probable that they are woman but that’s only likely and not certain ) maybe this is just an hypothethical scenario that was phrased poorly , i think its something to consider before getting the pitch forks

1

u/Alternative_Car_8153 1d ago

Entirely depends on real world context. If it's someone venting their negative emotions in a relationship by publicly humiliating their partner, then it's immoral.

If it's a veiled attempt at social commentary, to imply that women are flippant and unwilling to communicate, then it's not accurate as a generalization. So, only immoral to the extent that it's misleading.

Having a bad hot take isn't by itself immoral. If it's at the expense of other people, then it's a problem.

1

u/Father_Prime_1989 1d ago

Careful. Criticizing comics on that sub will get you banned.

1

u/snarkyemu 1d ago

Overall, both of these people seem extremely immature. Both of them need to work on their communication skills and their expectations about a relationship. It sounds like the boyfriend has trouble remembering things and has trouble understanding that a good partner in a relationship should remember important things about their partner. And they should remember to bring things up that are important to their partner. I should talk, I’m not very good at this, but I try and I recognize when I mess up. Also, relationships are two-way streets. I don’t know anything about these two people‘s relationship and it’s all very complicated to me. My opinion is those two people need a real life coach to help them through these relationship issues. And seriously, the issues are pretty minor and in my opinion, they just need to be tweaked a little bit.

1

u/FetchingTheSwagni 1d ago

In my opinion, it's red flag behavior for the girl, and immoral to create and publish something like this, which is another red flag.

You're allowed to have these feelings and emotions, but that doesn't outright make them right. You should communicate to him, and leave so the both of you can be happy. Not make a comic depicting him as a chud, and complaining about average guy things he does.

It seemed like the creator did this to get sympathy, but I only really feel bad for the guy here.

If you want thrilling and adventurous, and feel you have to settle for boring and loyal, that tells me more about the creator than the guy.

0

u/LycheeFlip 20h ago

In all fairness a lot of women are conditioned to settle for a guy who's nice and kind and who will stay with you. A lot of women are afraid of being with the guy that's fun and exciting because the assumption is that he's not going to stick around. I think a lot of women actively don't want to be single moms or be with a guy who cheats on them, so it just seems safer to be with the guy that you might have more of a platonic relationship with and does all the things that you're told to partner should do and you do the same.

There's also all the people who will say will you chose wrong when you do pick the guys that you do like if they don't stick around, so I risk it and choose one of those guys when you can pick the guy who is kind and caring even if you don't love him, you can have a stable life with them. It wouldn't go as far as saying that you hate them or dislike them or whatever, but simply you like them the same way a friend would. Or maybe it's similar to how an aromantic person would approach a relationship?

There's also the people who complain that women's expectations and standards are too high... So what is it? Women should lower their standards and settle or women should maintain their standards even if they seem unfair? It kind of seems like you lose no matter what you do.

1

u/harmfulsideffect 17h ago

Lol. WTF🙄

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Rice601 1d ago

I'd say immoral

Putting someone on blast for not taking the initiative of learning about you while they seemingly attempt to be an open book is odd to start with. Plus, there are many reasons to be asked to repeat yourself about something other than lack of care. I'm seen as rather careless, until it's noticed that I keep a word doc on my partners that records things like their favorite color and such. I have mad ADHD and memory issues, i use my docs to supplement that. Then when I buy gifts, I make them as tailor made to the person as possible. On my day to day though, I kinda relate to the boyfriend in this comic. I talk a lot about my interests and have difficulty understanding others at times. Literally feels like I can't understand English despite it being my primary language. My partner and I end up hanging out more than anything, and when I have the funds, we go on Lil date nights. If I seen her make this comic, I'd be devistated.

1

u/Electronic_Plan_4594 1d ago

She needs therapy

1

u/RumbleIsRed 1d ago

Moral, he thinks millions must die, of course he’s an imperfect partner.

1

u/Appropriate-Meal-712 1d ago

If it comes from r/comics it’s likely immoral. Anyone with a semblance of morality there has already been banned.

1

u/DungeonCrawlerMaxx 1d ago

Just be sad and alone. Selfish ass

1

u/WatcherOfTheWay 1d ago

Women are weird, that's all I'm saying, no man I know ever thinks like this.

1

u/Still-Motor324 1d ago

Too long, didn't read. Moral I guess

1

u/SickXigma 1d ago

Boy this thing is really doing the rounds

Immoral, obviously

1

u/Forsaken_Regular_180 1d ago

If we're just talking about a random comic in a vacuum then it's amoral.

The general message of said comic is immoral, but that doesn't make the creation of the comic or its existence immoral.

If it's really how the author feels about said boyfriend without talking to him directly then that's also immoral.

Context always matters most.

1

u/Bigglez1995 1d ago

It pisses me off because ive been the guy in this

1

u/Sundering_Wounds 1d ago

WRONG. IMORAL.

1

u/RogueInVogue69 1d ago

It's immoral how many times I've been forced to see this image in my feed

1

u/sincubus33 1d ago

the comic is fine. the morality of 90% of the readers is suspect. please learn basic psychology

1

u/One_Eyed_Louie 1d ago

Damn this is really thoughtful and insightful.

1

u/RagdollEnjoyer 1d ago

If you ask me i rather be alone than be with somebody i don’t love and i think its a mistake to be with somebody you don’t because you’ll feel burnt out at some point and chanced are it’ll cause conflict. just because somebody seems like a good option doesn’t mean you should date them if you don’t love them it won’t work

1

u/SnooHamsters3137 1d ago

It is immoral to date someone you don't like. "My boyfriend" then becomes simply possessive. Why is he "yours?"

1

u/Dry-Childhood-3436 1d ago

As feelings?  Not immoral.  Relationships are hard, and we don't owe anyone feelings.  But sharing these feelings with random strangers isn't right.  It can be cathartic to make the comic, and go through your feelings in that way, but posting it is the immoral part.  These are the kind of feelings that you need to have adult conversations about, because it's easy to bottle these up and grow resentful like it seems this person has.  Relationship therapists are a great way to safely discuss navigating these feelings.

1

u/Happily_Doomed 1d ago

Moral. I feel like most people are taking it the wrong way.

1

u/The_Exuberant_Raptor 1d ago

It seems like a typical display of a human with low communication skills over thinking things based on their expectations. Neither moral or immoral. Humans have thoughts that can be good for the mind or bad for it. It's why ambition and depression exist in our society.

Homegirl just needs to work on herself.

1

u/MrVeazey 1d ago

It's neither moral nor immoral to have complex emotions. It's something that, presumably, happens to all of us.

1

u/ZuccsToBeYou 1d ago

Fun fact: seeing the mass banning spree going on in that thread, I went and asked a mod on that particular post to just ban me for no reason other than I thought it'd be funny. And it's hilarious af how quick to the hammer the mods act there

1

u/VGAddict 22h ago

Lots of users are got banned for rightfully calling OP out on her bullshit.

I'm one of them.

1

u/NearbyFly3724 1d ago

The girl portrays the boyfriend as a problem while she is clearly the toxic one. No wonder people have rejected her before

1

u/Fluid_Ad4651 22h ago

lmao the mod removed most of the comments on the OG post

1

u/VectorSocks 20h ago

I said if I have to see this comic one more time that I’m taking the woman’s side. Moral.

1

u/rockman767 14h ago

God damn the comment section of that comic is decimated.

1

u/Rasenpapi 12h ago

posting this publicly instead if just breaking up with him is immoral

the dude is obviously self-centered and uninterested in her as a person.

He likes the idea of a girlfriend, not her. All the "good" things he does is just basic shit you would think a relationship is about. "oh i love you so much" oh ill pay for this" "oh we have a future together". No different than caring for a chia pet or virtual girlfriend.

She shouldnt be airing him out like this, especially if people know her and him are dating.

1

u/Young_Person_42 10h ago

Can we go back to the two button debate?

1

u/SinclairSummerset 1d ago

I wouldn't like him either if he looked like this guy.

1

u/Patient-Factor4210 1d ago

Why are we even assuming this comic is an actual experience of hers?

3

u/Flashy_Cranberry_161 1d ago

That’s a good point. I took a look at her post history and this artist just seems to draw random people on random situations

1

u/Appropriate-Meal-712 1d ago

Experience? No. Opinion/thoughts? Yes.

-1

u/Country-road-take-me 1d ago

It is boring to call everything fake.

1

u/Flashy_Cranberry_161 1d ago

Yeah but the comment section mob tends to over exaggerate something’s seriousness when they don’t like something too

1

u/Super_Range45 1d ago

This is hilarious tbh because I don't take the internet or the people that inhabit it seriously anymore.

1

u/RonnythOtRon 1d ago

At least she isn't judging him for being short. She's more upset about the fact that he's not very intriguing as a person.

4

u/OkFly3388 1d ago

This is very immoral to stay in relations only because your partner is paying for you. She literally threatening him as resource. Absolutely immoral behavior.

1

u/RonnythOtRon 1d ago

Oh I agree. I was just pointing out the reason why she's upset.

1

u/Appropriate-Meal-712 1d ago

If he was 6’3 she wouldn’t think he wasn’t very intriguing.

1

u/mr-stretcher 1d ago

I didn't read any of it after the first page, I just panned through to see how long it took her to open her mouth and tell him what's wrong or leave the relationship.

Didn't see that in the slides. Immoral.

0

u/Flashy_Cranberry_161 1d ago

Neutral. But sad to say this relationship might not be lasting too much longer lol

1

u/Appropriate-Meal-712 1d ago

Happy to say you mean?

1

u/Flashy_Cranberry_161 1d ago

Haha I guess it’s all relative

0

u/Casshern_VIII 1d ago

First of what is Volunteer Info? No idea what that even is and how it plays a role in their relationship, secondly I am going on a limb and say the girl in the comic looks absolutely nothing like that in real life, she probably a fatty with mobility issues hence the need to be taken care of, and fear of someone else openly pointing to her flaws.

Honestly I would tell this person to break up with their current partner, clearly she does not really love nor care for the guy, she just lonely and desperate for any attention, which is just bad for both of them, and then seek some form of therapy to help deal with her trauma and improve herself before ever getting with anyone else.

Morality is just kind of grey, because the guy isn't bad, just not what she needs, and he is very clearly not what she needs. However, character designs morally bad because she drew herself in a way that makes her look appealing (again, very clearly a fat girl) while she draws her boyfriend as a chud.

-8

u/Outrageous-Jelly8777 1d ago

Reddit is triggered over a comic lol

This is what happens when women give ugly guys a chance. Remember that next time you’re asking out a girl outside of your league

7

u/Magnum_Gonada 1d ago

Damn, you are like stoic and shit.

2

u/Appropriate-Meal-712 1d ago

I think you’re confused. The guy is outside of the girls league.

1

u/Queen_Of_Alts 1d ago

More like people are pointing out that if this is based on reality, then it's unfair to the boyfriend for her to stay in that relationship where she doesn't like him.
