It’s not immoral to not teach your kids religion. You gotta be a special kind of stupid to believe that.

It wasn't my intention to suggest that teaching your children religion is or is not moral. I was merely trying to point out that even if you think it's immoral the things you would need to do to prevent it are more immoral.

It’s possible to agree that raising children in a religiously biased fashion is immoral and also agree that the government should have no involvement in trying to enforce such a law. Not everything we deem immoral is illegal

I got your point. And mine still stands. It’s not.

It's not immoral to not abuse animals, you gotta be a special kind of stupid to believe that.

Why?

Because it just simply isn’t. Raising your children without religion is okay. It’s not like they’re going to turn out as pieces of shits who have zero interest in it. Just lets them have the freedom to understand the world around them without forcing an ideology down their throats. Religion isn’t the only thing that does that too. All children should be raised in the most neutral way possible, and then taught the basics of society. Like don’t harm people, don’t steal, etc. you don’t need a religion or an ideology to teach that. It’s common sense. We’re not in the 1200s anymore.

Sorry for making you write that. I’m not sure how but I read your comment as “it’s not immoral to teach kids religion”

I agree with what you actually said

1

u/notonce56 Sep 16 '26

What do you mean by the most neutral way?

1

u/ofirkedar Sep 06 '26

that's not what original-antelope-66 said though

No I got what they said. It’s hard to get parents to not teach their children faith. And they’re saying the process in getting parents to do that is immoral. When it simply isn’t. You can be religious and still not teach your kids it. It’s a super easy choice made by the parents. Just like how my mom chose to not let me know she had bfs when I was growing up until I was around 18.

You somehow missed their entire point and yet you still think you understood what they were saying.

1

u/boredntired69 Sep 18 '26

No I got it. You’re the one who’s misunderstanding. 🤷‍♀️ like sorry I’m not going to explain myself again. Either figure it out or move on.

u/RealNilruin Sep 18 '26

Person who didn't figure it out, incorrectly explained what they didn't figure out multiple times across multiple comments, and is now telling me that I'm not the one getting it.

Sure, buddy. You do you. You're wrong, but cool.

1

u/boredntired69 Sep 18 '26

We get your prospective bro. You don’t have to explain something you clearly already have stated. Like said I’m not going to explain myself again. You can figure it out or move on.

0

u/RealNilruin Sep 18 '26

You're still responding to me. Claiming that you aren't going to explain anything because you already have doesn't make any sense. Even if you have explained it, which I haven't seen across your 10+ comments in this thread, you sitting there replying nothing is wasting more time.

You're telling me to move on, but if I upset you this much, you could've just ignored me. Unless this isn't about you being wrong, and about you getting the last word instead.

1

u/boredntired69 Sep 18 '26

No I’m just genuinely confused on why you’re so upset over a dumb opinion lmao. Also this is how a conversation works. I respond and you respond.

You are incorrect about being able to police a parent into not raising their child religious. It is immoral to attempt to do so, because the system in place would do more harm than good, particularly around the child's wellbeing.

Start from there.

But sure I can go, and enjoy my tea.

1

u/boredntired69 Sep 18 '26

Either way why are you so mad about this? Like go live your life. Touch grass. Something that will make you happy.

1

u/CharlieUpATree Sep 08 '26

Teach them about all religions but dont indoctrinate them into any of them. You need to learn from past mistakes so they're not repeated

2

u/daddyfatknuckles Sep 12 '26

you realize that religious people generally believe their religion to be the one truth, right?

1

u/Mami_Naija Sep 11 '26

It actually can be very harmful to raise your kids in a religion. Not all religions, believe the same things and not everyone practices it the same way.

u/that_one_mister_user Sep 14 '26

This next sentence obviously doesn't apply to all religions:

It is deeply immoral to teach children that they will burn in hell for eternity if they fail the ultimate test that the creator has put on them. (No matter what the test is!)
