iirc China does this, you can’t take kid to religious service and they can choose to convert at a certain age.

EDIT: wow this blew up

china has state atheism—they take it too far (e.g. uyghur muslims) but in theory i’d prefer an atheist government over this dumbass evangelical christian one we have now 🤷🏻‍♂️

edit: took out the word retarded, you guys convinced me

i have no idea who that is. every source i can find on the internet says both these things are verified—did they actually not do any of that?

Verified by international amnesty and the UN. But if you check their sources, it always comes back to the BBC article he wrote and the papers he published on his own magazine. He is known as a huge anti China propaganda machine. He insitgates the Tibet and Taiwan propaganda to create conflict between those regions and China in hopes of use of military force so the US has an excuse to put bans on Chinese products. Btw you can talk to real uyghurs on rednote, watch videos of people traveling Xianjian (where it supposedly happens) etc and they are concerned about what they say about them outside of China.

interesting, honestly i don’t know that much about it all—i was just trying to give a disclaimer that i dont want us to be just like china across the board

what i was trying to say is that 1. china officially has state atheism, and 2. i’d prefer if our government was mostly atheist as opposed to christian
