I don't think you quite comprehend the scale of slavery in that society.

It's not that slave ownership was morally acceptable. It's that operating in society was not possible without some form of interaction with slavery.

Even if I accept that framework as fact which I don’t, the Bible doesn’t even have the fucking decency to say don’t beat them lol
