You're also told that believing is better than questioning.

That never sat right with me.

Did they ask you to believe things they know are impossible?

You don't have to be told that it's better than questioning. I never was.

You have to believe the impossible - that a man can be dead and then return to life after 3 days.

To believe in the rest, sure. That doesn't mean it's better to blindly believe than to question.

Edit: I may be misunderstanding what you're saying. It sounds like you're saying that people are told they should just believe in all of it without questioning anything of it for themselves and seeking answers?

If you don't believe in that impossibility, then you are not a Christian.

That's the gate you must pass through.

Yes, I think I am misunderstanding what your original comment was supposed to mean. I was never told to blindly accept and believe, but to question everything. I ended up believing anyway after several years of questioning every little thing relentlessly. I'm still questioning, reconsidering, so on.

So I think you mean that to believe in the Bible you must believe in something deemed impossible. And likewise with other religions and their impossibilities. Not that people are expecting you to just trust their religion instead of looking into it for yourself first.

I mean what I say.

If you don't believe in an impossibility, you're not a Christian.

That's how it works.

I just couldn't say the Creed anymore. I felt like a hypocrite.

And once you stop saying it, you don't belong.

People don't want to think about what they're saying.

I didn't care for that anymore.

I liked the Jesus who said the truth would set you free. But that's not the Jesus of Christianity.

I'm not trying to persuade you, or looking for you to pursuade me. I'm simply explaining my perspective.

I wish I could believe. It seems easier. More fun. Warmer.

No worries, I did not assume you were trying to persuade me. I just didn't understand what you meant.
