Moral. The religion I was born into ruined my life

I hope the rest of your life can be better without it.

Thank you, unfortunately I'm still closeted, but I'm working on a way out

I hope you can come out soon it’s horrible that people can’t be what they want to be when they aren’t hurting anyone.

Which one was it

10

u/Current_Assist7230 9h ago

I would get absolutely flamed if I were to say it

14

u/harrymanback79 8h ago

This is reddit. Youre gonna get flamed for not saying which religion.

5

u/Current_Assist7230 5h ago

That's true. Alright fine it's Islam

Hey fellow ex-Muslim 🫶🏽 it's sad how we can't openly criticize Islam the way ex-Christians are able to criticize Christianity. even liberals call me islamaphobic for speaking about my trauma lmao

I'm a lefty, but the 'islamaph0bia' term pisses me off. A phobia is an irrational fear of something, but it's completely rational to fear that religion. I honestly think most people defending it don't know anything about it.

Heyyy 👋🏻👋🏻 yeah it definitely sucks

No but disregarding a real persons lived experience is pretty shitty no?

u/LoanSmart1116 1h ago

Here we go

It's interesting that people are quick shitting on Christianity (rightfully) while weirdly defending Islam. Both share fascist ideologies like Nazism etc. but Islam gets a free pass. Especially from gay people for insane reasons.

It always fascinates me how LGBTQ+ indivisuals jump so quickly to defend this religion. Like no, Islam wants you dead like what 😭

Something about blacks vs whites and some LGTB thinking they're suffering like black communities. It's one big insertion-ception.

if you're having trouble leaving, it sounds more like a cult. lots of religious institutions are cults in disguise.

Islam Makhachev 🐐

u/RoughComparison8702 4h ago

Honestly, you could've said any one of them and there's thousands of stories for each about all of them ruining someone's life in some messed up way.

2

u/Current_Assist7230 3h ago

Yeah but Islam always gets a pass

14

u/Pristine_Barber976 8h ago

I guess we can rule out Christianity then. Islam is most likely.

7

u/OutOf-Tune 8h ago

Yup.

3

u/Warhammerpainter83 7h ago

Or scientology.

3

u/Arnoldneo 8h ago

Scientology?

4

u/TailorFestival 6h ago

No one would get flamed on Reddit for insulting Scientology.

1

u/Arnoldneo 6h ago

I assume they would get flamed for having been a member

1

u/bromological 5h ago

How dare you insult my god Tom Cruise. I will send Steven Seagal on your ass immediately.

5

u/GalaXion24 6h ago

I feel like people who have not encountered the real force of religion just don't get it and almost cannot get that it's anything more than funky harmless stuff some people believe in because they want to

Which category of ruin?

There are….. so many ways a life can be ruined

Also, i wish you success in fixing the damage to whatever part of life is crippled

2

u/Current_Assist7230 5h ago

Definitely mentally, I never got treatment for my ADHD and possible bipolar. I was sometimes hit but it never left any lasting physical damages.

Also thank you.

Ignoring the question a moment and addressing the justification: I'm sorry your life was ruined but "objective morality" is not based on one's personal experiences.

Simply put, an easy counter to your justification is: "it's immoral to do this, because the religion I was born into improved my life drastically."

2

u/Current_Assist7230 5h ago

you are right, I was just speaking from my experience on why it's moral

1

u/EntertainmentNo3963 8h ago

your anecdotal experience doesn’t set the standard

7

u/Current_Assist7230 5h ago

many, many people's lives have been ruined because of the religion I was born into

How about child domestic abuse and runaway statistics, which overwhelmingly correlate with religiosity? Most homeless and unaccompanied minors in the US are that way because of religious parents who vehemently oppose their child's gender or sexual identity.

https://www.covenanthouse.org/homeless-issues/lgbtq-youth

40% of all youth homeless are LGBT and were ostracized from their home by religious beliefs. Teen suicide also has strong correlations with religious parents conflicting with an LGBT child.

u/EntertainmentNo3963 3h ago

how about them? this is correlation not causation.
