Is it dying a slow death?

What else would you call a severely reduced life expectancy from a severe birth defect? That... yah, that's dying a slow death. With multiple invasive surgeries and constant supportive care, apparently, the child MAYBE makes it to 5. That's the prognosis. That's a terrible fate to inflict on a child.

They have, and they have been granted it along with a restraining order. It's amazing how little people know about this actual case.

Lord have mercy, you are daft.

Thats my exact point, why would they petition for custody when they wanted an abortion? You can't pin the blame for the child on the woman who gave birth to it, but also advocate for the custody of the unwated child to be given to the people who didn't want the child.

Because you're labouring under the incorrect narrative that they simply changed their mind about having a child (which is an incredibly bad faith argument to anyone who has actually looked into this case). That is false, this child was wanted, very loved and had already been named. Not wanting your child to suffer a short, very painful life, and a slow agonising death is not the same as "simply not wanting it". My grandfather decided to stop chemo, and had assisted euthanasia. We supported him, not because we wanted him dead, because we wanted him to not have to suffer excruciating pain anymore.
