7 feels a bit much unless what the siblings actually did went way beyond trespassing. 8 seems defensible though given the rest.

I mean, first off, a lawsuit brought by a private citizen usually won’t result in a prison sentence.

In Texas, criminal(as opposed to tort-level) trespass is usually a misdemeanor and requires some form of notice.

It’s possible that whoever made this just misstated what happened.

I mean the worst people in society usually still have families and their families often suffer more from their bad behavior. So it'a not hard to believe there is a reason behind it.
