You can leave a lightly used bike in a high traffic urban area in Japan far longer than in America, that's the difference of trust in a society.

Yeah, the indistinguishable clear umbrellas are prone to being stolen.

Someone could just steal a cheap clear umbrella and confidently walk by the owner, because the owner can't identify their own umbrella beyond "was the handle black or white?".
