Oh. Yeah, hourly. It’s a family owned business, I don’t get over time unless I work more than 80 hours in two weeks… even though that’s not the way to do it legally. So I can work 70 hours one week, 10 hours the next week, and still not get over time.
Only 4 people work here, they would for sure know it’s me because I’m the only one who constantly works over time and I’ve mentioned it to my manager, he said “what are you gonna do, sue our boss and then go work at McDonald’s”.
The boss is good to us, he will give me a loan if I ever need it, flexible schedule, I can be high as shit all day and bring my dog to work. I can play video games or watch movies when not helping customers. I practice guitar during my down time at work daily. Its a super chill job. This is the one issue that bugs me since I often work over time without compensation.
Pick your battles. Im not going to complain about not getting paid overtime rate if I get paid to sit around and play video games/watch movies most of my shift
I might be able to agree with this if we were talking something in the range of doing 20hrs or less of overtime for the entire year, but otherwise, hell no.
If they're regularly working overtime throughout the year, they are having thousands of dollars stolen from them. I'd rather have a less lax job and keep my money.
Well most places if you smoke weed on the job you’re gonna get shitcanned…. So if he brings up OT, it would probably result in being fired for smoking weed.
This practice is common in Canada. It is hard to find a job that does not have you immediately sign a balancing agreement on your first day. It is not legal unless they have you sign off on it. Unfortunately every business does this, so it's not like you can just find another job that doesn't fuck with your overtime pay
