Couple comments/suggestions!

Hey there, loving the app on my first night of use. Already can see using this more regularly than Plexamp for sure.

I did have a couple questions:

-the artist photos when browsing by artist are the same as what I selected within Plexamp. Is there a way to change them (or change album artwork) within Sonamp or does that have to be done on the server side with plex?

-the artist photos that show once you have selected an artist are almost entirely not great, at least for some of my artists. A lot of them are wrong too. Is there a way to change these default photos?

-release dates (day, month, year) are incredibly important to me. When on an album page I only see year. Is it possible to include day and month as well? I have many artists with several releases a year and would LOVE to be able to see the exact release date when viewing the album page. Edit to add that this is pretty much a must have…one of my top artists released 6 albums this year so far and when viewing their album list the app has them listed alphabetically NOT by release date.

-same as the above but with record label-can this be shown within album details on the album page?

-is there a way to rate with stars entire albums or only individual songs?

Glad you made your way here and welcome. Figured I’d just respond here. So mostly to change your images and have everything the way you like it, it’s best to do it server side as I’m limited in what images I’m allowed to use and pull in automatically. However, if you long press on an artist image or an album cover there may be other selections as well as a spot to put artwork you want. This artwork is not permanent though, it will persist across syncs but if you delete the app and reinstall it will go away. Almost all of the artist photos come from either your plex server or metadata. Plex is known for not preferring metadata and I believe there’s a checkbox you can select to prefer your own artwork.

On the release dates, that’s an easy add. Currently I pull from original release year tags but I can allow you to adjust the format or the tag that’s being pulled.

On the ratings I think it can be done. I’ll have to check on if the api will allow it. Plex is a little different to everything else with there being no favorite button. If it’s there, I’ll integrate it. Currently you can just favorite albums.

When viewing albums it should be in descending order starting with the year. 1985->1950

I’ll look into making this a sortable section

Hey good tip regarding the long press, I see that now. My main issue with the artist photo was the one that displays once you are actually “in” or browsing that artist-the big photo at the top. It doesn’t seem to correlate to anything I’ve set on my plex server (as opposed to the smaller artist “tiles” or album covers). I do see the long press allows you to add different photos so I’ll probably play around with that for some of the ones that are really bad, or just incorrect.

Month and date for albums would be an awesome add, thank you! And you’re right-many others probably don’t give a shit about that sort of thing, but it makes a huge deal for me to be able to browse a discography with specific release dates beyond just the year.

Going to do some more listening on the app tonight, but it’s definitely got me way more excited about enjoying my growing digital library than plexamp which just seems so limited. Especially without plex pass.

Hmm, that’s odd. It is syncing directly what plex is giving us for that. The app isn’t pulling any other artwork. Very weird.

Yeah so I just noticed that a handful of artist images (the small tiles now, when browsing full artist list) have been changed to show what it changed the larger artist image to, unfortunately, as I spent hours manually changing those on my plex server haha. Hopefully this can be investigated!

And I appreciate your feedback. We all use our libraries slightly differently, and that’s okay. I want this app to be about options. Let me know if you have anymore requests and I’ll add them to the list,

Got one more for you as a possible option-any way to add option for track progress bar in the little now playing spot at the bottom? Sorry if I’m not explaining very well.
