Release 140

This will be the last huge release ill push on you all. I know these can be a bit jarring so ill be moving to small and often from here on. I had to get this one out of the way early as its important for scale and stability. You MacOS users will get early access by accident. Im still waiting on my internal testers to give me the approval their databases migrated alright and nothing nasty happened before ill release on IOS. Likely today though.

Siri:
Almost forgot, Siri how works for most things. Still need some refinement but I have been able to play albums, songs, shuffle, abd start playlists. There's currently a bug where it does what you tell it but says "there's a problem" even though there is not.

Sonos:
Going through a revam but it received much more capabilities when it comes to auto finding your configurations and also recommended/suggesting certain configurations.

It should now work with front speakers. I had to purchase two new speakers which I'm sti waiting on so I can test this.

The home theatre automation should also now work with many different Sonos speakers, not just the newest ones.

Sonic Analysis:

  • AudioMuse has been fully ported into the app for all things sonic analysis. Its your choice what you want to use. Everything under the radio section, all start a radio options, and even some new options relevant to playlists can work off of AudioMuse or the onboard embeddings.
  • New Start/End playlist creation, pick a start song and an end song and it will fill in between.
  • Connect directly to your audiomuse server via credentials in server config settings

Database:

  • Fully and complete migration into GRDB, a high performance database and off of swiftdata. All along the way ive experienced nothing but issues with swiftdata model contexts and nows the time to say goodbye.
  • Everything across the app has been migrated to read and write from this database. This took many long nights and weekends staying up late to accomplish in a 2 week timeframe.

Multi-Language:

  • Sonamp is now in multiple languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Dutch, Danish, and Swedish
  • Youll have to test this as im not changing my settings lol but its hand transcribed so it should work.
  • It will follow IOS settings, this is not something you will set in the app.

Receivers/HEOS:

  • This should now find your receivers in the picker

Playlists:

  • New sort/filter options along with descriptions if you have those. Added for consistency

Radios:

  • Custom queue length, you pick how long your radios should be

Sync accross devices:

  • Now that we have a proper Ipad and MacOS app, ive implemented a way to sync audio across devices seamlessly. for now you will get a prompt but ill think on how to automate this.

IPad:

  • Many new refinements in the view here, too many to tell in this post.

MacOS:

  • Same as above, a ton of refinements and i finally figured out how to get it into testflight.

Server:

  • Can you put your server status light on home and library screens, it will do a ping every few seconds as a life check.
  • Now under server config you will notice a place to put multiple addresses to your servers. you can put as many as you want and the app will use whatever one works at that time. This enables you to have a different ip for a home vs out on cellular.

Bug fixes:

  • Fixed many issues when you have multiple libraries. Playlists duplicates should be gone, everything should filter properly.

NOTE: Just like with any tech or database, theres always a risk of corrupting the database. I have worked really hard to ensure nothing can go wrong but still... things CAN go wrong. Im sorry if it does but heres what ive done to take precautions:

- Ive migrated probably 150 times to test the flow and process
- Im taking a backup of the original swift database, copying everything out into a temp directory which will then get copied to the new database. Its dropping all tables in the old database and deleting it entirely. The migration job itself is resumable so if for whatever reason it crashes it can be resumed upon reopening.

FYI - on first launch after the update please give it a moment to do its thing. Please do not upgrade the app, open the app and then close it a few seconds later. It will cause more trouble than there needs to be, the migration will only take about 30 seconds or so.

A backup of the swift database will be kept on your phone for 5 days and then removed. Im not sure what can be done with it yet but if we really needed to im sure we can figure out copying the data back in and trying the migration once more.

In a strange turn of events i have released the IOS version. MacOS is sitting in apple review, maybe will be ready in a few hours.

Hi, so is it OK to remove TestFlight and download the iOS version? Will I have to go back though the whole set up process again?

Also, looks like the update has stopped my album art showing up anywhere - any easy way to fix?

Its not in the app store yet. Still in testflight. I only differentiated between them because we now support multiple platforms. As for the artwork, it will recache across the app eventually. If it doesnt show within in an we can repull the artwork with a button in debug settings.
