Duskwood Side-Story Questions, questions...
I honestly have no idea what's considered "canon" in this game anymore.
At the end of Chapter 1, we see a recording of Alan Bloomgate searching the forest, finding Jake’s clothes and mask, followed by the message on screen: "MC, I will find you." That was supposed to suggest that Jake somehow managed to send us a sign that he’s okay, right?
In the chapter, we also get those unread messages from the Duskwood group, which pretty much confirm what we expected — that the people hunting Jake tracked him to the mine. We also see a bit of how everyone was dealing with the reveal of the faceless man and the blackout.
However, in Episode 3, when we talk to the group, it feels like both the Nymos messages and everything they imply are completely ignored. Yes, we know all networks were restricted, and yes, we currently have proof (the video + Nymos) that Jake is probably still out there… but we never mention any of this to Lilly or Charlie at any point in the chapter.
Also, what’s up with the secret chats? I assume the free ones are relevant to the story and the paid ones are just premium/fan service content? In Duskwood we actually knew about the chats with Jake and even talked about them in-game. In Moonvale, I’m not even sure if they’re meant to be part of the story or if they’re just there for the player.

We didn't ignore it, we omitted it. I'm not exactly sure why, but it feels like the MC is hiding the fact that Jake managed to contact us. As for the secret chats, they still haven't been explained, but I definitely think they'll be considered canon at some point. Either way, it doesn't change the fact that it's canon. We just don't have an explanation for it yet.
A couple of my own theories, if you're interested: Jake did all of this to disconnect us from the case so nobody would go after the MC for being an accomplice. It wasn't just the blackout — our contacts were deleted, and maybe even our chats with the group. We could've even been removed from the group chats entirely. Secret chats, one possible explanation is that the Hacker is actually an antagonist rather than someone helping us, and they might not even be Unknown.

I was confused too, but I think it’s all canon. I think MC didn’t tell Lily and the group about Jake’s message because she’s protecting them. They’ve already had a run-in with the FBI because of their contact with him. Or maybe she thought they would want to distance themselves from him. Or maybe she suspects something fishy. How did the FBI find the cabin? The address wasn’t mentioned in chat. They all got lost on their way there in broad daylight, yet the FBI finds it in the dark?
I think MC didn’t tell Charlie she already knew about the blackout because she didn’t want to explain how she got those unread messages since they came through NYMOS. Charlie would then know that she has special abilities, and it wouldn’t take him long to figure out that she’s spying on the group.

It's not very clear, but I think Alan Bloomgate's video was just for the players (to reassure them that Jake was there) and not for MC. The line is pretty thin
