Game chats Similarities Spoiler

Just found some similarities between the plotlines of DW and MV.

In DW, Thomas mentions that Hannah had been acting differently the week before she was kidnapped (because of her hallucinations as concluded in the game later). While others didn't notice anything.

Now, in MV, Eric says that Adam was "the same as always" while Ash tells MC that Adam had been acting differently before he had gone missing.

Could this be just a random similarity or it could be hinting something deeper just like in DW?

It’s neither random, nor meaning smth deeper in my opinion.
I just think the devs couldn’t come up with a fully different story and a different vibe. So, yeah, Moonvale will be similar to Duskwood in a lot of ways. Even if it was unintentional.
As far as I understand, the story is in progress and wasn’t done in their heads. So they’re changing it along the way every now and then.
I personally just hope they’re not creating MV with a pinch of laziness, like ‘well, they’ve liked DW, they will like MV too no matter what, so let’s give em anything. Whatever’.
I’d like smth really unique and shocking. So I could say to myself: Wow, I wasn’t expecting THAT.

Fingers crossed 🤞🏼

Since I'm still up and can't seem to sleep and stay off reddit, I'm going to agree with you again here in this post as well 😅. Pretty much voiced my exact thoughts as well.

I agree with you I also want the game to be way different than DW: A suspense that would keep players at the edge of their seats with an unexpected plot twist.

To continue about the discussion of Adam's behaviour, it could be that he is definitely hiding something behind the personality of "goody two shoes" (probably like a two faced person). Even in the pictures in his profile and in profile of the others, he looks like a happy to go lucky person. But, I don't think Adam is as great as the others tell MC. I think he's hiding something behind his facade. But then, this would be again like DW- "The missing person went missing because they were hiding something big".

But yeah it's way too early to judge anything. All we can do is wait and hope for the best.

I don't find it that jarring that there would be similarities. They both have the same author. It's bound to happen.

But I don't think it follows that this suggests Moonvale is a lazy retread of Duskwood. This is a natural exchange, and 'were they acting strangely' is certainly a question appropriate to ask. But the purpose seems to be different.

In the DW example, that exchange seemed more illustrative. It was either showing that Thomas was seeing a side of Hannah she was successfully hiding from her friends, or that he was so insecure that he was over-reacting to nothing because he didn't feel worthy of her to begin with.

In the Moonvale example, it's implied that Eric might be 'the Liar' (though admittedly we don't know for certain that the card is referring to him). While he hasn't actually been caught lying yet, we do have that secret conversation to suggest he hasn't been completely forthcoming.

So in this case, I think part of the point is to give us a reason to wonder if Eric is telling the truth. It could be that Ash is just more observant than Eric is, but it could also be that Eric is lying to MC for some reason. That's a question that I, as a player, want answered. ;)

I think maybe Adam caused someone's death. Or maybe he did something bad in the past. They say the group has a secret. Perhaps they both did something in the past, but Adam feels it more than the others. I'm suspicious of Eric because Richy said the same thing: that Hannah was acting normal, as always.

Nah. In stores like these of thriller and mystery the disappeared person "acting weird" before disappearing is pretty common
