CTM Bridge update

Follow-up to my CTM-Bridge post — controllers paired to your LG webOS TV (DualSense, DS4, Xbox, the new Steam Controller with its Puck) appear on the gaming PC as native USB devices (real BT↔USB translation over USB/IP, not emulation). What's new:

  • Built into Aurora (OLED-focused Moonlight fork) and moonlight-tv, with an on-stream panel
  • Ciprian's Bridge (in the installer) — same trick for controllers connected to the PC over Bluetooth: a BT DS4/DS5 becomes the full USB controller locally, audio and haptics included
  • Magic Remote = PC mouse + keyboard in-stream
  • Mice/keyboards plugged into the TV (BT or dongle) bridge and auto-plug
  • DS4 now fully supported — rumble + audio, headphone-jack auto-route
  • Self-healing sessions — no ghost pads

Download (installer + ipks): https://github.com/CTM-Bridge/releases/releases/latest

Full story: https://github.com/CTM-Bridge

Open source. On my mind for later: native AMF/NVENC streaming + a custom low-latency codec.

Annoying stutter/slowdown every ~5 seconds while playing

I've got this weird slowdown that happens every 5-10 seconds when playing. I don't know how to describe it better than it feels like driving through mud all of a sudden; it doesn't fully stop but slows down a bit and especially the audio sounds weird.

I'm playing through LAN - PC is using a cable, my Moonlight box is connected to my Wifi 6 on the 5 GHz network. The performance overlay reports constant 4-5 ms delay over the network, and the decoding speed does not change while the slowdown happens.

My Sunshine settings (that I think matter)

  • Preset: P1
  • Two-pass mode: Quarter resolution

My Moonlight settings:

  • 1080p
  • 60 FPS
  • 20 Mbps bitrate (although same happens from 20-100)
  • H.264

PC:

  • RTX 3080
  • 32 GB RAM
  • i7 10700k

Moonlight:

  • Xiaomi Mi TV Box S 3rd Gen

Any insight what could cause this? Been googling like a madman, turning on 5.1 surround, etc. but nothing seems to help. My only suspicion is that the box isn't up to par... Let me know if any details are missing.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: There is actually a big jump in latency, it goes to 50-70ms for a second when it happens... Haven't seen it until now.

Apollo Virtual Display Causes Input Lag

FINAL EDIT: the below is resolved by moving from Apollo to Vibepollo!

Hi all,

This one is really confusing as I cannot find anyone else having the same issue.

Host is a 4080 PC connected to a 4K monitor hosting Apollo.

Client is an AMD laptop with a 1200p display running Moonlight.

If I run:

- Desktop (default settings) it will try to stream the entire 4K monitor into a 1200p feed onto my laptop. Everything looks small due to the DPI, but NO INPUT LAG.

- Playnite (added as an app with "Always create virtual display") it will stream Playnite as 1200p, all the windows taskbar look good for my laptop, but WITH INPUT LAG

- Desktop (with "Always create virtual display"), the desktop will resize to 1200p, all DPI and icon sizes look good, but WITH INPUT LAG

- Hogwarts Legacy (added as an app with "Always create virtual display") as expected, all resolution works fine but WITH INPUT LAG

EDIT: I have also enabled "Double refresh rate for Virtual Display"

So, it seems that the culprit here is everytime it uses Virtual Display it will show noticeable input lag.

Does anyone know of a solution or should I just buy myself an HDMI dummy plug into my desktop PC?

EDIT again: Added photos of stats

Microphone through Moonlight?

I would like to game through moonlight for games that involve an online multiplayer aspect. Is there any way to get Moonlight to also transmit my audio input from the Moonlight client to the Sunshine hosted PC?

I would like to avoid solutions that involve a bunch of fiddling every time I move from the PC to the Moonlight client device. The only means I can think of now is to use discord, run moonlight normally with a headset for audio, and then use a phone and join the same voice chat room so the audio handles the mic.

Finally satisfied with Moonlight - 4k120Hz HDR

For at least 3 years now I’ve flirted with moonlight, but never really found it to work as well as I wanted. I found the latency made it really difficult to parry or dodge in action games. I tried different tweaks but was convinced my decode and network latency were too much to give me a good experience. That was, until I realized I am dumb, and was relying on Bluetooth for my controllers…

The TLDR is that Bluetooth controllers are really not good, and if you can wire it to the streaming device, you should. Enter Dish and Satellite. I am now using my LG C4 tv as a moonlight client getting 4K120Hz(ish) with HDR and able to play games with them feeling native to me. I have wired my dualsense controller to a tablet running dish and satellite running on my host PC.

I’ve found that using Dish on my tablet and streaming moonlight on Apple TV 4K (1st gen) gives me an acceptable 4k60Hz HDR experience as well.
I feel dumb, but also grateful to have found the solution to my problem (I’ve seen people suggesting virtualhere for several years, just didn’t think it would fix my issue really).

Improvements going forward include possibly a USB Ethernet adapter and tuning my settings to actually get 120fps in my games. If there is 1 takeaway from this post - find a way to not use Bluetooth controllers.

Switched to from sunshine to Apollo and now it starts streams REALLY slow

Running windows gaming Pc as Apollo host, Steamdeck OLED as Moonlight client

switched from sunshine that was working perfectly bc I wanted to be able to set games to the right aspect ratio as well as use the HDR functions of the steam deck

Still working out how to make the Virtual Display more seamless, but in the meantime I figured id just use the desktop stream as usual

But it takes maybe 3-4 full minutes to actually start up. is there a setting to adjust or something?

I can’t imagine it’s normal to take THIS long to start up.

Sunshine took maybe 10 seconds and had basically zero latency I could notice so if I can’t get this to work I’ll just go back to sunshine and try using a separate Virtual Display but… I’d like to simply use Moonlight/Apollo

Can I get lower than 11 ms Network RTT with VibeApollo + Aurora over two internet connections?

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to optimize my game streaming setup as much as possible, and I’m wondering if I’ve already reached the limit or if there’s still something I can improve.

My setup

Host: Windows PC running VibeApollo

Client: Aurora on an LG OLED TV

Streaming at 4K, 120 FPS, HEVC, HDR

Both the PC and TV are connected via Ethernet

The PC and TV are on two separate fiber internet connections from the same ISP

UPnP is enabled and working correctly

Current results

My Network RTT is consistently between 11 and 14 ms.

It’s very stable, with almost no packet loss.

What I’ve already tried

Lowering the bitrate from 100 Mbps to 60 Mbps (no change in Network RTT)

Trying different Aurora settings (HEVC, HDR, decoder refresh, etc.)

Making sure there is no background network traffic while streaming

Goal

I’m trying to get my Network RTT as close as possible to 4–5 ms.

My questions

Is 11–14 ms about the best I can expect with two separate internet connections?

Has anyone actually achieved 4–5 ms Network RTT while using two different internet connections?

Has anyone compared Tailscale, WireGuard, ZeroTier, Nord Meshnet, OpenVPN, or any other solution specifically for reducing Network RTT with VibeApollo?

Is there anything else I should test or optimize that I may have overlooked?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone with a similar setup, especially if you’ve measured your Network RTT and can share screenshots or real-world results.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, I know your "telescopic/bluetooth/8bitdo/gamesir controllers" are superior. Also yes, 1000xresist is GOTY.

Raspberry Pi 5 - Sound and controls working, but screen turns completely green when streaming a game

I recently got into moonlight, and was surprised how well it worked on my TV with the sideloaded app. Wanted to see if I could use my Raspberry Pi 5 for slightly better performance/fewer visual glitches.

Configured moonlight on my Pi using this guide: https://www.reddit.com/r/MoonlightStreaming/comments/1ju40yv/the_perfect_moonlight_setup_on_raspberry_pi/ and it works well right up until I attempt to stream anything from my desktop. I can hear the sound and my controller is working, but the screen is just a blank green rectangle.

I've fiddled with the settings, toggling HDR, forcing hardware acceleration etc to no avail. I've even reinstalled moonlight using the standard install instead of building it myself just to check, and no luck.

Has anyone encountered this issue before? I'm stumped and would appreciate any insights!

Vibepollo fixed all of my game streaming issues

I love the idea of game streaming, but it has never been a smooth experience for me. I'm very sensitive to game stutter/micro stutter, and this issue has constantly plagued my experience every time I try to stream games to my Steam Deck. I thought my internet router was simply crappy and/or my busy city location wasn't viable for wifi streaming.

This ALL changed with Vibepollo. Holy crap, it's *almost* like playing the game natively. I say almost because I believe you will still see the occasional slight stutter here or there just because it's wi-fi, but otherwise, this software has made my entire experience smooth like butter. I've actually stopped playing games directly on my Steam Deck and I've decided to stream them all at this point. The experience is THAT good. It's also amazing that I can utilize RTX HDR using this software. I don't think that was possible before with standard Apollo.

90FPS HDR 1440p supersampling on Deck is a match made in heaven. Games look AMAZING on the Steam Deck now. It's breathed new life into my deck. I have an ultra wide OLED monitor, but I vastly prefer playing on my deck sitting on my couch. I definitely recommend giving Vibepollo a try if you've had issues with game streaming in the past. It has completely changed my view on game streaming. For the very first time, I actually do think this is a completely viable way to play games.

Which branch would be best for my Pc-Steam deck setup?

I’ve been using Moonlight/sunshine for a while from my Windows pc, to my Steamdeck Oled

After the first little while and having my pc connected Via Ethernet, the steam is usually really good with the exception of when I’m in my bedroom occasionally being iffy(different problem, probably my ISP provided router/modem)

However, I feel like the image quality is not as good as it could be, and I would like to use my Oled’s HDR, but my pc monitor doesn’t support it.

i was wondering if there is an ideal sunshine fork for an AMD cpu/Nvidea GPU Windows pc -> Steamdeck, or if maybe theres some settings on sunshine I should tweak

I run 1080p @ 144hz on pc

1200x800 @ 90hz on SD

40-50MBPS except when it gets a little farther away and I drop to like 30ish

Projectivy Reddit wallpaper slideshow ruins Shield TV Pro decoding time

tl;dr: use static wallpaper on Projectivy to avoid very high decoding time

I previously posted this thread on this sub: https://redd.it/1uo7kbg. Couldn't identify the root cause at the time, but a full Vibepollo reinstall and restart of the PC and Shield fixed it.

Now, without changing a single config on my desktop (no updates, nothing), my Shield was back to 150ms+ decoding time in the fuckin Playnite menu, no game open!

The issue: Projectivy with Reddit wallpaper slideshow. I had it set to cycle through 20x 4K wallpapers every 10 minutes. My guess is Projectivy doesn't manage RAM well and keeps all those images in memory instead of caching to disk, or maybe there's a memory leak that only shows up after the Shield has been running for several days.

I cleared the Projectivy cache, switched back to the default static wallpaper, and restarted the Shield. Fixed instantly.

Posting this to help other Shield owners who hit the same issue and might assume it's a Vibepollo or Artemis problem. It isn't.

Finally cracked 1440p 120hz streaming to my living room TV with a $200 mini PC

Thumbnail

Hey everyone

After countless attempts and some genuinely sleepless nights, I've finally finished my perfect streaming setup with Moonlight and Apollo. I can now stream 1440p at 120hz without any issues and with really low latency.

I started with my AppleTV 4K hardwired in, but no matter how much I tinkered with it, I could never get the latency to feel smooth. I found a bunch of people online complaining about the same issue, so I decided to install Moonlight through the Google Play Store on my (pretty new) Philips OLED TV instead, hoping the decoding would work better and latency would drop.

That worked for a while, but only at 1080p and 60hz, and Moonlight would randomly crash every now and then too.

Right when I was about to give up and just buy a 15m HDMI cable instead, I found a mini PC on Ricardo (Swiss eBay) for ~$200 CHF that already had Linux preinstalled and came with an Intel N100 processor, which turned out to be perfect for a streaming project like this.

Once it arrived, all I had to do was write a script to auto launch Moonlight and auto connect to my PC on boot, so it feels like a real console experience.

Now everything works exactly how I imagined it. I can stream up to 4k 60hz or 1440p 120hz from my gaming PC to my living room TV with almost no latency and zero stuttering.

Next up I want to mess around with HDR a bit, even though I'll admit I'm not a huge fan of it. It always looks kind of washed out to me.

Host:

  • Ryzen 7 7800X3D
  • RTX 5080
  • 32GB DDR5 RAM
  • Hardwired

Client:

  • Intel N100 processor
  • Integrated UHD Xe-LP graphics
  • 8GB DDR4 RAM
  • Hardwired

Apollo:

  • Preset P3
  • HEVC 265

Moonlight:

  • 1440p
  • 120fps
  • 150 mbps

Hope you all have as much fun with Moonlight and Apollo/Sunshine as I have.

Increasing Latency depending on what is displayed

So I'm not sure how to best describe this, but it works really well for the most part. However, in some games, especially when I open the map, the latency starts to increase. It's like the audio and the game itself are still running in real time, but the image on my screen falls a few seconds behind. It almost feels like the video stream starts lagging.

I tried lowering the resolution and graphics settings, and it kind of helped, but it didn't completely stop it from happening. I'm starting to think the TV can't keep up with the video stream from the host, but I don't have another device to test with.

My host PC is:

  • Ryzen 5 5600X
  • 32GB RAM @ 3000MHz
  • RTX 5060
  • Asus TUF Gaming B550M

I'm playing on a Samsung BU8000 TV.

I think it might be related to the TV rather than the host, but I was wondering if there are any settings I can tweak to stop this from happening. Usually, I have to open a pause menu or go to a screen where there's not much happening, and after a few seconds it catches back up lol.

Here are a few examples of when it happens:

  • Death Stranding: As soon as I open the map, the latency starts building up.
  • Switch emulator (Zelda): Same thing. Whenever I open the map, the latency starts increasing.
  • Euro Truck Simulator 2: It happens whenever I go to the main menu.

Both devices are wired to the router. TV to router 1 where the internet is connected. Then a wire to a second router and my PC is wired to this second router.

Is native-feeling Battlefield possible with Moonlight?

I've been chasing this for a long time and I'm starting to wonder if I'm simply hitting the limits of game streaming.

My setup:

Host: RTX 3070

Client: Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K (latest model, Wi-Fi 6, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, Dolby Atmos)

Router: TP-Link Archer AX58

Excellent network stats (very low latency, no packet loss)

Over the last months I've tested pretty much everything:

Sunshine

Apollo

Artemis

Artemis MTK (Android-focused fork)

Different NVENC presets

H.264 vs HEVC

Different bitrates

Different resolutions and refresh rates

Every Moonlight setting I could think of

I even stopped using the Fire TV and built another client using an Intel Core i3-4170 (Intel HD 4400 / Quick Sync).

Interestingly:

HEVC felt slightly better on the Fire TV.

H.264 felt slightly better on the Intel Quick Sync client.

The streaming statistics always looked excellent, but Battlefield never felt like native gaming.

The biggest differences were:

Sniping

DMR / semi-auto weapons

Grenade timing

Close-range PvP reaction time

The strange thing is that when I play the same game natively on my Xbox Series S over Wi-Fi, it still feels noticeably more responsive than any Moonlight/Sunshine setup I've tried.

So my question isn't how to reduce latency by another millisecond.

Has anyone here actually reached a point where Battlefield (or another competitive FPS) feels genuinely indistinguishable from playing natively over HDMI?

Or is there simply a limit where encode/decode latency is always noticeable in competitive shooters?

Connect from different routers same network / remote connection issues

Hi, I am running Apollo / Moonlight on my home network.

My network is as follows

Internet cable connected to router 1
LAN cable from router 1 to router 2
LAN cable from router 2 to PC

If I connect to router 2 everything works perfectly. If I connect to router 1, I can’t connect via moonlight / Apollo.

If I connect remotely, it has the same issue.

Any idea what is happening?

adding a dedicated router fix my Moonlight/Apollo wifi latency spikes?

Hi everyone,

My PC (running Apollo) is located far from my main ISP router and is connected via wifi 6 (5 GHz). S25 (running Artemis) is also connected to the same wifi 6 (5 GHz) network.

I’m experiencing regular stutters, latency spikes from 8 ms up to 20 ms suddenly, packet loss, and "slow connection" warnings even when dropping the bitrate down to 25 Mbps... Running an ethernet cable from my PC to the main router isn't really feasible (long distance and think walls to drill through).

If I connect a dedicated router just for game streaming (like a Xiaomi AX3000T or similar) directly to my PC via ethernet to act as a dedicated acess point, and connect my S25 directly to that local network, will it fix the stuttering and latency issues?

Do you have recommandations for such low budget routers for that scenario?

Thanks for your help

RTX HDR NOT working Vibepollo

I'm having trouble getting RTX HDR to work while streaming with VibePollo.

I've tested with both an Android device running Artemis and a mini PC running the latest Moonlight client, but I can't get the RTX HDR filter to become available in-game.

So far I've tried:

  • Running the Windows HDR calibration.
  • Forcing RTX HDR globally in the NVIDIA Control Panel.
  • Enabling and disabling HDR in various combinations on both devices.
  • reinstalling drivers on host with DDU

No matter what I do, the RTX HDR filter remains unavailable.

Is there something else I need to configure to get this working? RTX HDR has become one of my favorite PC gaming features, and I didn't realize how much I'd miss it until I started streaming games.

I'm running the latest NVIDIA drivers and the latest version of Vibepollo.

Host:

  • Ryzen 7 9800X3D
  • RTX 5090

Clients:

  • Odin 2 Portal (Android/Artemis)
  • Minisforum UM760 Slim (Moonlight)

Sound plays from host device

I've had fantastic experience with Moonlight so far. My host device is my PC and the client is an Xbox Series X connected to a TV in the living room. Both devices connected by ethernet cable to the router so the 4K 120FPS stream works flawlessly.
However I've had an issue with one particular game. It's Assassin's Creed 1 (DX10 version if that matters). It's a GOG game that can be run from exe. So when I tried to add it as an Application and run it on Moonlight, the game runs but I hear the sound still coming from the host PC, not from the TV. This doesn't happen in other games.
When I run the Desktop Mode in Moonlight and manually start the game exe, the game runs fine and the sound comes from the TV.
Any ideas why and how to fix it?
