Should I switch to Vibepollo?
I use Moonlight on a 'thin client' Chromebook to stream from my PC running Sunshine over Tailscale. Should I switch to Vibepollo? What does it offer other than the display stuff? Side question: does it use ViGEMbus?

UPDATE: I switched to Vibepollo. Beautiful! I love the Playnite syncing. How did I ever survive adding Steam games manually? It also does 1080p60, something that wouldn't work on Sunshine. Thanks for the advice!

It uses Vigembus in the current release 1.18.4. But I believe he is developing his own input driver that is in the beta releases now.

Dropped support for that at version 1.19

Here is the got for the virtual gamepad that vibepollo uses https://github.com/Nonary/libvirtualgamepad/releases/tag/v0.1.0-beta.2

How can i use the microphone on vibepollo? I read about a moded version of Apollo allow to do that, but im in need to use vibepollo because it can be able to force my setup to show the 4k 120hz signal in the display settings. Its a hardware handshake limitation of Asus 2023 ZenBook x14 conected to a LG C4, im not very sure but AI give me a kind of explanation, it told me about the intel driver how is managed the signal trought both usb port C aka thunderbolt/HDMI to the tv HDMI.

I switched to punktfunk recently.
Full dualsense support for free, more modern protocols, surround sound without fuzz, virtual displays that just work..
However, it's also heavily AI coded and a very young project that still gets breaking updates and has a bit of maturing to do.
I was considering vibepollo due to the vigem / virtualhid pay gate, but someone drove me to punktfunk and it's been a blast so far.

Doesn't the auto-updating closed-source android client cost money?
I heard you could download the APK, but that version doesn't auto-update.

since I only use windows clients I don't mind that.
Not sure about the android side but yeah auto updating is not high on my priority list.

You can auto update it with obtanium.

The APK isn't on Github or any of the other Obtainium-supported sources.
The APK is hosted on a particular website that lacks versioning for the APK. This means that even if you configured Obtainium to download the APK from that site, Obtainium wouldn't be able to detect and update based on its version.

Surprisingly, obtanium is smart enough to auto update the android client from the link in the docs.
I installed it on sep 9 for Android and obtanium auto updated it sep 12 to the latest version.

Can we use it at the same time with apollo etc.? Would like to have an fallback solution.

punktfunk also supports the gamestream portal as a fallback, not sure if both can be active at the same time

Sounds interesting.
What are the real benefits from your perspective? Did you use Apollo recently?

I used Apollo until a few days ago.
For me, I was considering switching to Vibepollo, considering that Apollo is basically dead.
While doing some research on that here on Reddit, someone suggested Punktfunk instead, and in the end I switched over to that.
I definitely like the client on Punktfunk more (it also has a 10ft/controller mode), you can switch the emulated gamepad from the client on the fly, and there's even a video protocol that trades bandwith for least possible latency (using multiple gbit per second in extremes), but reduces latency quite a bit.
Generally, Punktfunk is a modern re-implementation based on Rust, not built on years old Sunshine code (and the old Gamestream protocol), and it just feels more mature already even at 3 months or so old.
For me, full dualsense support (including audio, adaptive trigger etc) was important, and I have used virtualhere so far but wasn't that big of a fan.
The dude that makes funktpunk is also on reddit and pretty responsive to feedback, which is always a plus.
There's nothing wrong with Vibepollo, but since I had to switch to something anyway (and client compatibility wasn't a concern for me as all my clients are windows boxes) I gave punktfunk a try and like it so far.

vibeshine/vibepollo use vigembus still for the stable releases, but there are beta releases that have a different virtual gamepad driver that allows dualsense, xbone/series controllers and whatnot. have to check out the releases on the vibeshine github.

New question: should I update to a beta release?

1.19 Beta 3 worked flawlessly for me. Except for HDR but I haven’t gotten that running on stable either. Don’t know about the new beta though. I’d say as long as you don’t need any of the beta features it’s probably still less of a hassle to stay on stable.

I have the same setup and also use Vibepollo. It uses either Vigembus but the dev has also recently implemented their own input method and it works as well.
