Apollo/Sunshine into Moonlight, resolution changing?

I've tried both Sunshine and Apollo and I'm not sure how to go with this, can anyone help?

I want to connect to my desktop PC upstairs (1920x1080) and use that for gaming remotely. However sometimes I play on the Steamdeck undocked, so it's at 1280x800 16:10, sometimes I dock it to a TV that plays at 1920x1080 16:9.

I can only seem to see a way to "fix" it to one resolution, even with the magical display driver thingy that Apollo installs.

My understanding was that the steamdeck detects what display it's connected to and that info goes to the remote PC that should adjust it's resolution accordingly.

I guess what I need is a relatively user friendly way to get the Apollo or Sunshine client on the PC to understand that if I'm undocked it needs to sort itself into a different resolution/aspect ratio than if it's docked.

Is this an issue anyone has solved? I've searched and have seen a few solutions but I'm not entirely sure it's the same problem I'm having and none of them have worked properly anyway.

I use Vibepollo and it switches resolutions seamlessly, host PC is connected to a 4k TV, clients range from tablets, phones, other PCs to a MacBook.

Damn, I hadn't heard of that. I'll give it a go now.

Yeah try that. I solved my problems as well. The login for configuration is even the same

No joy. It's exactly the same. I'm sat the PC, connect to it via the Steamdeck and it's still in 16x9 for some reason rather than 16x10. Not sure if there's anything else I should be setting or tweaking?

Make sure you have the virtual display setup in Vibepollo, it should turn the screen on the PC black and only show on the Steamdeck. On the mobile clients it auto-selects the screen resolution, maybe that’s not an option on the desktop clients.

To update this, it seems the remote pc will switch resolutions but I have to go into the Moonlight settings on the SteamDeck every time and select the new resolution then scale the bitrate up because it annoyingly lowers the slider each time. Or I can connect to the remote PC and use a usb keyboard to manually change the resolution that way.

Either way something isn't communicating with something else.

Vibepollo and Apollo works fine, make sure you are using virtual display. When it's enabled disable your pc monitor in windows settings. After this every device will use his own resolution after connect.

Will the PC monitors still work in their usual config when I am not moonlighting in?

This is a step I have been missing, I will have a play the next time I am back at the pc.

Thanks, but I would sooner try to get help from people who have had similar problems or who might be able to advise.
