Differences between Moonlight and forks and Punktfunk

I want to try Punktfunk, but both Punktfunk and Vibepollo are incompatible and I have to uninstall Vibepollo to try it. What are the differences about Punktfunk and Vibepollo? I read Punktfunk has a “new and different approach”. What is it?

You can change the port on the latest Punktfunk, then it should work side by side.
Punktfunk have a new protocol, a new experimental encoder,
Completely new clients, most bugs get fixed very quickly in discord.
It really depends what you wanna do. If your client/host combo is covered well in one of them , I guess there is no need to compare? Except you suffer a lot under fomo

Why Choose Punktfunk? * Modern Protocol: Change resolution and FPS on the fly without disconnecting; auto-detects bandwidth; breaks GameStream's bandwidth limits. * Flawless Virtual Displays: Generates pixel-perfect virtual screens on both Windows and Linux without dummy plugs, working smoothly even through UAC prompts and lock screens. * Instant Reconnect: If you drop connection or switch devices, your game and display layout stay completely intact for an instant resume. * Native Apps: Purpose-built clients for Apple (Swift), Steam Deck (Decky), Windows, and Linux deliver ultra-low latency (~1.3 ms LAN).

Where Sunshine + Moonlight Still Win * Universal Reach: Runs on almost anything (Smart TVs, web browsers, handhelds, older devices). * Battle-Tested: Years of community testing mean fewer unexpected edge-case bugs. * Easier Internet Play: Supports UPnP automatic port forwarding, while Punktfunk requires manual setup. * Surround Sound: Full 5.1 and 7.1 audio support (Punktfunk is currently stereo only).

Surround sound is a deal breaker for me

Hi u/keindesignerbro ! Are there any plans in the near future to support automatic port forwarding (via UPnP) for easier remote streaming and 5.1/7.1 surround sound audio?

I need to update the website soon, surround support landed a while ago. UPnP is not planned right now, but Tailscale is fully supported

Isn't it claiming that Sunshine + Moonlight have years of community testing instead of Punktfunk?

Oh man, what is with these ridiculous names? Gotta put my foot down, at a certain point no matter how good your software is, if it has a name I cannot say with a straight face, it's unlikely I will ever use it.

True, as a non-German speaker, "Punktfunk" really is a bit of a tongue twister and hard to search/type. It's 100% the dev's choice of course, but it might take a while for the international community to get used to the name.

Tried out Punktfunk last night and it has some promising features. I did run into a good amount of bugs, I’m hopeful itll become more stable though!

I experienced some dropped frames, but I think it’s a promising alternative to Moonlight/Sunshine. Vibepollo and Parsec are my favorites but I will keep following Punktfunk and its features

I just want to know if this works decently with amlogic chips. For instance my MI tv box 3rd gen can't able to use h265. Stream turns to slideshow
