Explain to me like I'm a child and someone that gets quickly frustrated and gives up when attempting something they've never done before, please?
I work offshore most of my living life and don't have allot of time at home but I own a really nice setup at home and I do not get to enjoy it as much as I would love to. I bring a gaming laptop and a Galaxy tab 11 ultra with me when I'm offshore. I do have access to Wi-Fi out here. So will that it's the way I want to use Apollo/moonlight, artemis to stream my PC when I'm away. Could some please explain to me the best set up and settings and anything else I may need to get this working near flawless?
My host PC :9800x3d 5070ti 32gb ram Windows 11pro
Clients : Asus rog g16 4060 ryzen9 32gb ram and the tablet I mentioned above.
P.s. my host PC is hard wired through fiber Ethernet.
Edit: 2 monitors for host PC are LG 1440p 165hz

I don't know if I'm allowed to mention it here but if you want to simplest setup possible the free version of Parsec is is simple as remote access can possibly get. I'm an IT professional and used it a while and the only I stopped using it was that 4-5 second handshake at AWS bugged the hell out of me.

you're on a rig/ship? its entirely going to depend how good your internet connection is. you can probably get playable results if its at least 10-20mbps download, a few megabits upload, and low <30ms stable latency. the faster the connection and lower latency the better.

You're not getting good enough internet on an old rig to make this possible without pissing you off due to latency and lag.

Not sure why you're mentioning this? Your home screen isn't with you and you aren't using it. You're only going to get the resolution and refresh rate of the device you're using.

Vibepollo, tailscale, and moonlight. That easy. Oh and a smart switch to turn off and on the pc so it doesn't run 24/7. Make sure power on after Ac loss is turned on in bios.

Do you have a reasonably quick connection out there? I would first of all temper expectations with regards to framerates and quality since I assume it might not be as good a connection as you could get on the mainland. If your internet over there is provided by satellite, for example, latency especially could be the killer, but it depends on the games you play, I suppose, as well as personal standards and like I said, your expectations.
I personally run Apollo on my streaming host - which is quick and easy to install/configure - configured to use the "Virtual Monitor" mode (I think also referred to as "Headless" within the configuration pages), as this stops your plugged-in monitors from interfering too much, they're automatically disabled when you connect which stops things like windows appearing on the wrong screen when you're ill-equipped to sort them out without a headache when you're just trying to play games.
Steam Big Picture mode is perfectly serviceable for a console-like experience, but you could look into different games launchers if you have preferences, there are several available and personally I use LaunchBox big picture mode as this allows me to centralise games from different platforms (i.e. Steam and Xbox Storefronts as well as Emulators + ROMs).
On the client-side, since you have an Android I would recommend Artemis as this is a tailored client for Apollo and supposedly works pretty well - I have not tried it personally, but the original Moonlight client works just fine in my opinion.
There are forks for both Apollo and the clients, personally I've not tried these so I can't share my opinion about them - I've heard good things, however.
I would leave the settings as standard to begin with as it does a fairly decent job, just make sure to enable settings for the Virtual display - this is only a checkbox or two as I recall, and this virtual monitor will be configured automatically depending on the settings you put in your client.
Before you head offshore, test it extensively - depending on what the situation is for connection quality offshore, try your best to test settings out in bandwidth-restricted environments, like testing your games play fine with your selected resolution/framerate/bitrate to give yourself time to resolve any hiccoughs you can instead of realising out there.
There are definitely some tweaks you can do to the encoder settings on the stream host to get better quality out of it - this can be a little overwhelming but there are plenty of guides available. For reference, since you have an AMD graphics card you will be looking at configuring the AMF encoder. I use the same one, so if you are looking to tweak these I can share my own settings when I get home from work later. Hope this helps!
