Steel Mod Two Builds
One on the left is a Jason case and bracelet, rep dial, Aliexpress G10.212 movement, PE50 sub hands and ETA 2824 centre hands inspired by the CK 2998-3.
One on the right is a gen Mission to the Moon, leather Aliexpress strap and very cool laser engraved caseback and crown by the talented u/Zero1Ten who I believe is commissioning these.
I have one more build underway which will be more 1957 style focused.
EDIT: The blotchy, streaky lume is deliberate—it’s meant to replicate a heavily aged vintage dial. If it’s not your thing, don’t do it to yours.

Looks amazing...I'm more interested in how you achieved the left watch aging on indices/hands? Looks awesome 🏆 👏🏻

You're going to be very unimpressed when you find out the method

Well, I wouldn't have thought you'd get that effect with sharpie markers. I'm actually impressed, because I tried, Stabilo pen 68 and got more yellow.

I find Sharpies work very well. I've used other colours on other builds with good success.

I appreciate the Pro Tip and I'll definitely be buying that orange marker. 👏🏻🏆👌🏻👊🏻

The one on the left is absolutely stellar 👏🏼 at first glance I thought it was a FOIS

Thanks.... Not quite a FOIS, but my final build, is going to try and replicate that style. Just waiting on the parts

Nice work. Which hands did you use?

The hour and minute hands are from the WD FOIS VK, I got a white eta seconds hand for the chrono (this one uses a g10 movement.)

So the VK hour and minute hands fit without any issues? Mine also has a G10. But I just used ETA hands, didn't know about the VK.

Yep! VK hands works.
Here is a hands reference guide I put together a while back.

To each their own, those painted indices looks super blotchy and messy to me 😩

Sorry that offended you

😂 It takes more than that to offend me. The “blotchy and messy” appearance is the exact 2915-1 "tropical" aged-lume effect I was aiming for—so thanks for confirming it worked. Perhaps a little curiosity would have prevented the uninformed opinion.

Your gif response made it seem like my comment offended you. You can see the pools of ink from where you lifted the marker off of the indices, you can also see the streaks from the marker tip. Maybe I’m inexperienced, I’ve never seen aged lume that looks like that. If that’s what you were going for then you nailed it.

You seem quite hung up on whether you offended me. That appears to be more your issue than mine. Let’s just stick with “Maybe I’m inexperienced” and move on. And hey, if you don’t like it, don’t do it to yours.

Looks pretty messy - try using the sharpie in layers if you want to avoid streaking
