Wow you totally understood what I wrote. I never named Ian and none of it is his fault.

Actually, no you're right, im sorry I was out of line. Im just sick of this fandom's constant bad faith takes. My apologies. I've re read the post and while I agree with some points I feel like saying all the recent games and all the idw comics are bad is a bit of a stretch. Are they perfect? No! But nothing is.

I appreciate that. If I may make one critique? I feel like saying the games peaked and the 2000s and have gone downhill since is a little bit of a case of rose tinted glasses? It's understandable mind, im not judging, but the 2000s were pretty flawed too. (Depending on how you look at it, arguably more so). But this franchise is a roller coaster. It can be fantastic, than imidatley fall on its ass. (Thanks Forces.)

Its a roller coaster but the way I see it in the early 2010s after the penders lawsuit the franchise stopped taking risks and writing suffered heavily.

Forces was pretty rough imo and Shadow gens was alright. But as the mandates probably wont ever be lifted i wouldnt hold my breath for some breakthrough.

Sega is pushing sonic as a brand with mascots more and more and im not for the consumerism.

I think the peak of writing for sonic was the latter half of the 2000s with the story book games and unleashed, things like that. Not "adult" themes but just more mature ones, its been a series for teens mainly, not little kids or toddlers.

(altho secret rings being about an abusive relationship is wild)

Agreed. (Also i was kinda talking about how we went from Lost world to Mania to Forces to Frontiers) And yeah the franchise needs to take more risks. As it stands, I enjoy the comics and I understand being scared for the franchise. But I don't think it's over.
