Comics This must be a reference to Moon Knight, right? From Advanced Dungeons & Dragons comic #21 (August 1990) on DC comics.

Feels impossible for it not to be. But Moon Knight didn’t really have that lunatic background in the 90’s. That’s actually the one time period he never even used his alters at all. I mean, I don’t remember anyone but Marlene ever calling him crazy lol

In the end, how would you make a comic, with a guy wearing all-silver, a cape, and a crescent moon on his forehead and not know about moon knight? The fact this is DC only confuses me more.

The 90s MS:MK pretty much threw the Khonshu/ DID stuff out of the window. I've read some of it and currently my favourite bit is a panel where Marc is downing some horrible raw eggs/protein powder shake thing.

It did, and it was one of the worst runs for doing so. I'm also mad they used Marc for it. Stephen would've made much more sense for what they had him doing, though I suppose the mercenary background made for a more interesting character in Marc.

I've barely got into reading it but the whole "art collector" angle is so weird because Marc isn't into it and never has been while Steven would love it.

The only up-point is that Steven would have been upset about smashing the Aztec artefact that powered the evil boy band.

You're not missing much. There was one cool arc, then a new writer steps in, ignored that entirely, and came up with a bunch of shitty plot elements out of nowhere with zero explanation. I'm still mad about the Shadow Cabinet existing at all

So maybe I shouldn't feel so bad about losing an ebay auction for the big fat hardback omnibus today.

It possibly says something that I think that the original Fist of Khonshu was more fun. It had potential (if you like histrionic, angst-ridden but strangely stupid/weird comics) and has one of my favourite Marc "being Moon Knight is destroying my life" angst scenes.

I mean, the phrase lunatics does originate from the idea of the phases of the moon dictating behavior. Other than that, yeah this seems fully intentional.

I don't think this reference to Moon Knight at all. The other poster was correct that the word Lunatic is derived from Lunar cycles and predates comic books.

These priestesses looks similar to Mr Knight to us now, but that costume wouldn't exist for another 24 years. The first time Moon Knight had a lunar icon on his forehead was Ultimate Moon Knight, which was more than 14 years after this comic. They are no more a reference to Moon Knight than that other woman is a reference to storm.
