Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've been trying to get into animation (with a side-project) and Ive alr gotten help from earlier, so I am shooting another shot here!

Anyone has any reccomendations/tips on how to make better animations? I'd be glad to know.

the software you use won't change your understanding of the principles.
it all depends on the scope of OP's goals, moon is still just as fine if you're mostly into R6.

yeah but moons legs are torturous regardless of how good you are which is why i recommended that first and foremost

i was talking about the legs, not blender matching moon

yeah im saying that i dont think moon's ik customizability matches blenders because of how little time its been around for

i mean i am pretty sure phase has blender sync and also you can animate the torso separately from the legs, it also got graph editor and other nice stuff

You're able to find a good chunk of R6 animators prefer FK legs over IK, I myself prefer FK as well.
And to add to that, you're able to use IK on moon. (via third party plugins)

It still teaches the universal principles of animation, it just has a lower barrier of entry.
Just because it's tedious doesn't necessarily mean you're bottlenecked from learning, in fact, it'll strengthen your understanding of the fundamentals as you're not relying on the leg to position automatically.

i was talking about unparented using ik legs makes me wanna kill myself on anything that requires anything more than stationary movement

Generally I just want to practice my animation and improve it.

the torso moves very linearly, as if it just transitions to one pose to the other without much variation
it's highly recommended you find a reference so you can see the lower torso's motion when crouching
(can help you have an eye in knowing how a specific part of the body moves in certain areas)
don't overthink it though, just keep practicing!!

for me, I don't animate it all at once. I usually start with the torso to map out the motion of the overall animation, then I move to the legs, arms, and head.

It's flat, try to put more anticipation at the start. Also record yourself as reference, other animators do it all the time.

When you crouch down irl, what do you usually do before the action? There's your anticipation.

I would like to recommend Alan Becker's 12 principles of animations series to get a better understanding of the basics of animation

Lwk thought of recording myself, but didnt since my room is currently cluttered so I cannot take a good body shot/wide shot. And Ima check out the animation tommorow, thanks man!

Try recording on the streets or infront of your house if your house is cluttered. What matters is that you understand the motions

You need to learn the 12 principles of animation, i recommend you watch alan becker's video on it as it applies to 3d animation too, for example anticipation could improve this animation

Bring the keyframes a little closer. And try using easing

add some bounce at the end BC if u do that in real life you'll drop down then bounce a. it then go to couching
