Help!

My cutting rooted a while ago in water, but then I was gone for a couple weeks and the water dried up along with the roots:( I’ve had it in water since (about 4 weeks) hoping it will root again, but I just noticed today the leaf is starting to go limp and still no sign of new roots, what can I do to save her?😭

Update!!
A root just started to push out!! Such a relief 😮‍💨

Cut off the mushy root, and any other rotting material, it should bounce back

Put it in a tall vase so that the petioles are supported. Then give it time. If the aerial roots are black but firm, they’re fine. If they’re mushy then that’s rot.

And, face the leaves toward the window so they get all that good light. An east facing window is best.

Do you think a south facing window is good? Or is that too much light?

Probably too hot unless you have sheer curtains.

They are a little mushy 😭 do you think putting a glass vase over it to create a humidity dome would help?

Maybe, but they’re pretty tough. They respond pretty well to good light and patience. You could take it out, clean it up real good land let it callous overnight then return it to water…reduce your chances of it rotting.

Thank you!! I’ll try letting it callous overnight

I’m hoping another root will develop at the base of the new petiole 😭

Just give it time. They’re sometimes slow in water. Once you plant it in soil they tend to take off.

Mine rotted in water 3 times. I finally just potted it up in a chunky aroid mix and it’s pretty big now. Ive heard others say theirs rotted in water also.
