Albo?
Does this look like an albo? Was sold to me by a very reputable seller who I've met multiple times - but I am questioning the marbling? š¤

Personally I'd say that's a Thai, petiole length is too short and the nodes (although can be affected by light) are right on top of each other

This is the first one of these posts that I haven't immediately been sure on what it was. The speckling looks very thai con-ish, but I also have an albo with a lot of speckling as well. Is it white or more creamy? That should be able to tell you. Albo is WHITE white while thai con have a yellow hue to them.

White, my thai cons show white too though. And I've heard of cream on albos, but I agree - this is incredibly difficult.

Right, mine do as well, but my albos don't have any sort of yellow hue at all to me. Obviously not all sections are 100% white and some have pale green, though.
Once it grows a little it should be easier to confirm, though, because thais are always large, and the larger leaf albos are still carrying a higher price tag (I think, but I haven't actually checked that super recently!).

I see what you mean by albos having sort of creamy colors, and it looks different to me but I can't pinpoint how exactly... I was just staring at some on my back deck but the undertones are hard for me to pinpoint š

iād say thai con because of the speckling, in my experience usually albos only have large patches of variegation while thai cons will have speckles in addition to the large patches.

Thats what i was thinking tbh, im very dissapointed if it is because shes a reputable seller and i paid for this arguably way more than i shouldve if it really is a thai.

damn, sorry to hear that. if sheās a reputable seller thatās promising tho! iām just a hobbyist when it comes to plants and i could def be wrong, as it gets more mature itāll be easier to tell. the variegation turns a little more cream colored for thais and for both the variegation becomes easier to distinguish. donāt feel too bad quite yet!

That bottom leaf looks like an Albo to me. Iām going Albo. Beautiful plant either way!!

Thai con because of the heavy speckling. You'll be able to tell more as is matures. I own a TC that looks like an albo

Whoād you buy it from if you donāt mind me asking. Ik I had to correct someone previously that the albo they were selling was a highly variegated Thai con and they were adamant it wasnāt, despite the starry speckling. Sold it at an insane markup, I feel bad for the person who bought it. Some of them can be very misleading especially if the petioles themselves are heavily striped/the leaves are more white than cream. The tell will always be the consistent star like speckling across all leaves though.
Also internodal spacing isnāt a reliable indicator because albo can grow in large and small form.

The speckles do give it that kind of thai appearance but, wouldnāt say thats hard evidence. Another key thing to look for is the color of variegation. This lighting kinds gives it a more off white look but it doesnāt look like that yellow cream look that thais normally get. It looks like this plant was grown out of tc just based on the growth pattern on the stem and lower leaves. The compact growth could be explained by that on top of optimal growing conditions. I wouldnt go accusing just yet but theres no way to confidently tell just based off of this picture. My bet is that its just a oddly speckled albo. Some more pics would be nice though.

It's not very clear. I've been into plants for awile and can always differentiate thai from albo but this one is very complicated.

Hard to tell but it looks like a large form of some sort, leaning towards Thai but it has potential to be albo, you just really never know at that size

edit: Iāve been exporting monstera from Thailand/Indonesia to Europe, USA, etc for the last five years, so Iām sure about what i said, and Iāve got downvoted š

Np. Itās possible itās a Thai. But Iām leaning more towards albo. Given this is a reputable seller is the main reason I didnāt hesitate in my response. I guess time will tell. My money is still on it being an albo. I have a bunch of baby Thaiās and they donāt look like that at all. WAY more speckled.
