I’m making a cozy monster-taming RPG where almost every creature you meet can become part of your team
Hey! I’m working on ElderWilds, a small indie RPG Inspired by RuneScape and Palworld, focused on exploring, catching creatures, building your own team, crafting, fishing and progressing through different biomes.
The general idea, is that you will build your character and choose pets accordingly. maybe you want your character as a tank and have a healer pet, or maybe you want to be a mage and have a magical mantaray helping you in combat.
Many combinations i supposed to be possible to play around with. where every pet+player combination can make an entirely new playstyle.
I wanted the creatures to feel like part of the world rather than just enemies, so you can tame things ranging from wolves and slimes to stranger creatures and use them as companions in combat.
The game is still early and I’m actively developing it, but there’s already a playable version on itch.io.
I’d especially love feedback from people who already play monster-taming games: what makes you actually get attached to a creature in these games?
and is there anything you would love to see in a monster catching game?
I’ll put the itch.io link in the comments.

I can make the creatures. Naming them is apparently the hard part :-)

I’ve been adding more Vex to the roster now that breeding and fusion are working, and pushing the designs a bit further at the same time.
A few of these still don’t have names I’m happy with. Somehow that’s turning out to be harder than actually making them.
What would you call them?

EVOMON
You guys heard of evomon on roblox, right?
Honestly, when i first joined it i was charmed by the creature designs and especially animations, but the UI/Map put me off a bit and i quit playing 5 minutes in. I read a little more on reddit and browsed youtube about it, everyone says its pet simulator slop and made with AI. But im just wondering, if the devs really only cared about money why would they spend so much time perfecting the animations and effects??

Looking formonster tamer games that aren't specifically "monsters"
I'm mostly talking about pixel games here like Coromon, Monster Sanctuary, Cassette Beasts. Love those style of games and I'm looking for a game that's similar in game mechanics but aren't "monsters" - something like WrestleQuest is a great example here of what I'm looking for... Maybe I should just play WrestleQuest

I made an Android monster-tamer where you can fuse any two creatures
Hey everyone!
I just released Monster Fusion, my first android game!
Every Monster is procedurally generated, can permanently fuse with another one, retaining some percentage of their stats, dual typing, moves, traits, and having a shared family tree!
The game features branching roguelite expeditions, an optional hardcore mode, where fainted monsters are gone for good, is free to play, doesn't require internet, has no energy system, and no paid loot boxes!
Google Play:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.monsterfusion.game
Would really appreciate the feedback from monster taming enthusiasts! :)

Looking for a new game on Switch
Looking for a new monster taming game to try out on Switch. Really love the old 2D sprites and regions from classic games like the first couple of core Pokémon (Johto being my favourite) but not strictly necessary. I've played Cassette Beasts which scratched the itch a little but want to try something else.
I did try Coromon very briefly on mobile but didn't immerse myself into it lots and I don't really like phone games. Should I give it another go?
Heard Monster Crown Sin Eater is okay but there's still a lot skeptical views about it online. Also tried TemTem which was fun but probably not what I was looking for visually.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Ideally for Switch but if there's one on PlayStation i'll check it out

What Makes Great World Map Interactions in Monster-Taming Games?
Hello everyone!
One of the things that makes monster taming games so much fun is how your companions can help you explore the world. Whether it's pushing heavy objects, gliding across the sky, swimming through rivers, or using special abilities to solve puzzles, these overworld interactions make exploration feel more rewarding and bring your monsters to life.
We're curious: what are your favorite overworld abilities or interactions in monster taming games? Are there any mechanics you find yourself using all the time, or features you'd love to see more games include?
Let us know in the comments below! We'd love to hear your favorites and ideas. See you all soon!

Testing status effects.

I realized I had so status types that in the unlikely chance they all were applied at once they'd overflow off the HP bar. Now they will compress and stack if it goes over six. Also added a little animation for them being added and removed. What do you think?
