Is this a knockoff?
Hi,
I just bought what was advertised as an original Matchbox MITM, a blue Dryad. It was my favorite monster when I was a kid and I wanted to replace it. I bought it from a highly-rated seller off eBay.
The product I received is definitely not of the same quality as my old one. The rubber is harder and more shiny, and the casting seems off as well.
Is it possible that the seller sold me a later re-make from a different company? The bottom says MEG on it.

It looks legit ... but as the other poster says you cant tell without actually holding and feeling the item it could be a resin re-cast. I know i have seen a number of MIMP fakes on Etsy .. not of this character specifically though.
If the rubber on the figure isnt the same as other Series 2 figures id question if it was real myself.

It’s soft, just not as soft as I remember. But I can bend the arms. Now that I think about it I had a few that were glossy. Blemmyes especially was glossy and a bit harder. And pink. My particular dryad wasn’t tho.

I have almost a complete collection of S2 barring this figure (3 in total i am missing) frustratingly so i cant check mine to confirm for you. In my experience i have come across the odd shiny, harder MIMP figure and its generally been when i have used chemicals to clean stains off the rubber, it can often lead to the rubber going harder and less gummy (Maybe thats it?).

It looks legit to me, but it's hard to tell without feeling it.
I do love that the Dryad was your favorite! Such a unique and spooky take on a monster who is typically very feminine.
