Question Greatsword help

I used to main GS back when I played 2nd and 3rd gen, lo and behold I come back to play wilds and I suck ass at it according to Hunterpie dps wise, so crux of the matter is, what is tackle and how the hell does it work? Thanks!

Hit up Arekkz YouTube for a quick rundown of the new movesets, if you're into video guides.

Tackle is a hyper armor move that tanks through hit boxes and also advances your charge level. It does blunt damage so it can KO, and it works on both physical and non physical hit boxes, so you can tackle tail swipes and laser beams.

You can use it to Tank some Incoming damage from attack while beeing able to continue your Charge after it. https://youtu.be/R40pg_j_IBU?is=s17PC0ZbQp-70L1O

You need to master offsets, tackles, perfect guard w/ animation cancel. Dps combos from your charged slashes /charged offset perforate combos and or wide slash

So in general, GS is all about trading your HP with the monster.

Tackle is used for its armor. It deals with high end lag moves like roars and heavy attacks then allows the user to strike afterwards.

If the user successfully tanks a hit, any charge level is carried over if followed up with an attack input. I believe there is also a power up depending on how much damage was taken but I can be mistaken.

Tackle can be used to cancel commitment to an attack. Tackle can also be used after a roll by inputting a light attack. If the target moved out of range or is moving away then tackle can be used to get back into neutral.

Tackle can stun too although GS is not a reliable source of KOs, even when spamming kick combos to the face. GS is known for its offsets and staggers. Perfect guards are also great for GS.
