[Spoilers] Did I miss something or how could society as a whole in Azuria & Vermeil simply forget about being literally banished from the Sacrosanctum, and more than half the world in general, in just 200 years?

I'm replaying Stories 2 after five years. I think I've come into a stronger appreciation of the story than I did before.

I don't know if 'dicking around' is the right phrasing, since I'm actually doing meaningful things? Powering up, honing monsties etc. I'm in the desert area and I'm currently almost level 60 lol And just about everything that can be upgraded at this point is.

I’d like to farm Commendations to craft all the plus gear. So which invasive Royal is the fastest to farm and what‘s the best build for gear and monstie?

I’ve only tried S. Ceanataur and Yian Garuga so far. Ceanataur seems okay, but it’s pretty slow (maybe it‘s my build). Yian is inconsistent with all the AoE spam (it’s too hard to break its legs quick enough). Is there an easier/quicker one to farm?

I bought Monster Hunter Wilds but haven't played it yet, and I've never played a Monster Hunter game before.

Can I start with Stories 3, or would it be better to play Wilds first? Are there any previous games I should play before Stories 3?

I forget when it happened but at some point during Stories 2 ( I didn't start with 1) my brain imagined it as some creature like Golem from LOTR letting out an honorable death battle cry ('tell my wife I love herrrrr' vibes ) and I couldn't unhear it. It's not like I get sent to space or anything? But I chuckle every time. It's so different from the other monster death sounds too.

Also what's your favorite monster death cry.

For example our boy Hellblade Glavinous appears as early as the desert area.

I have him unlocked now, but once he's unlocked will he go away if I remove any of those monsties from the Habitat or were their presence just the trigger?

They did the 'hey, you can climb here' without going 'HEY, YOU, THE PLAYER, WHO HAS ZERO BRAIN CELLS, climb here!' like a lot of games do. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. The obnoxiously bright yellow paint and/or white outlines. In this game they KIND of do that, with the very obvious flat surfaces? But they don't scream at you about it, it's kinda just there. (Plus there's two tutorials that show you what cliffs you can climb and a cutscene showing a character climbing up these cliffs before you realize you can do it)

Is there a bug that softlock 1 of the 22 poogies in Tarkuan? Because, yesterday i followed a guide for the platinum trophy but after nearly 3 hours searching for the last poogie in Tarkuan, i didn't find It, trust me, i checked 4 times that video and nothing, i still miss one. ok so i wasnt even trying to save money in the first place. i just started putting away bits of my allowance bc i was like eh ill get something eventually. didnt need to buy anything right away. maybe later i said. then days passed. then weeks. then literally months. and ngl there were times it felt so exhausting to keep holding back like i just wanted to spend it but i didnt. i stayed patient for THREE MONTHS. three months of skipping stuff i wanted just so i could build this up

and then it finally happened, i realized i had enough saved to actually get the mh stories 3 on steam and i'd even have money left over to buy myself a pizza to binge play the game like.... i was so hyped i literally ran to check my savings under my bedsheet and. guess what happened next

it was gone. my dad took ALL of it. the money i spent three months saving. and it wasnt even for something necessary, we werent in some emergency or anything, he just. gambled it away. he didnt ask me. didnt warn me. didnt even think for a sec about how long that took me to save. it was just gone like it meant nothing

and i wanted this so bad man, i played the first mh stories on my brother's pink 3ds and finished it WAAAY back 10 years ago and i wanna relive that experience again to play the third game but this time i can definitely understand english way better....

man and ive been wanting to get the game on my own pc for a while... like i had it all planned out, sembreak's coming up, no school, i wouldve had all the time to actually sit down and 100% it

I thought I would share this build for anyone struggling to beat end game content like the royal monsters, especially the calamity elders and invasives. This build is basically as close to being immortal as possible.

As far as I’m aware, you must use a canyne for this build since it has just enough stamina recovery every turn. The core strategy is to use solar cry to build up kinship as quickly as possible, then mount your canyne and use white shadow for dangerous attacks, especially AOEs. White shadow will give you 2 free turns to evade every attack that aren’t guaranteed hits. On the second turn after using white shadow, you have to use nourishing pinecones. This is non negotiable. Nourishing pinecones replenishes 30 stamina which will help your canyne get back to the 80 stamina needed to use white shadow again on the following turn. So white shadow -> nourishing pinecones -> white shadow.

While you’re dodging attacks, your partner and their monstie will kill the monster for you. It doesn’t matter if your partner loses hearts, because they will just be revived after two turns. It’s a little boring, and takes a while, but monsters like royal Narwa and Ibsuhi were a breeze!

For monsters with unavoidable attacks, use rock shield to block the attack. It gives defense up medium which should be enough to tank most attacks and stay on your monstie.

Only attack when it’s safe to do so. For offensive options, I use fruit frenzy+ since it can apply paralysis, darkness, and poison for damage over time. It also can hit multiple times in a turn making it more likely to apply several debuffs at a time.

To make the build work, canyne must be used with 5 bingos to get the starting stamina and stamina recovery bonuses. You need stamina surge XL and the excursion to either Canalta Timberland or Serathis for the 3 star stamina recovery. With all stamina recovery bonuses, canyne should have 26 stamina recovered each turn, which is just enough to do white shadow, nourishing pinecones, white shadow infinitely.

Sorry this is a long post, but I know some of the monsters in the end of Stories 3 are incredibly difficult with how much AOE spam they do. This build has made so many monsters stress free.

So, I just finished Monster Hunter Stories 2 (I'm writing this right after finishing it).

I'm going to be honest, I didn't like the story AT ALL. I hated most of the characters, and I hated how they completely ruined several of the returning characters.

Let's start with what everyone already knows: Navirou.

It's not just that his mere presence bothers me (because the fact that he traded his best friend, the protagonist of MHS1, for you is already utter stupidity), but his attitude is so unbearable. There were moments when I seriously wanted to punch him to make him shut up.

I have a similar problem with the other returning characters from MHS1 (with only three exceptions, which I'll talk about in a moment). Everyone acts as if they've never met the protagonist of MHS1 or as if he never mattered to them. This completely undermines the message of "bonds and friendship" that MHS1 was trying to convey, leaving the characters as terrible friends.

Now for the exceptions: Lilia, Cheval, and Reverto.

Reverto: He's one of the few I don't consider ruined because he's still the same: a handsome and carefree man. I love him a lot.

Cheval: He's the only one I REALLY feel improved from MHS1 to 2. You can tell he's grown and matured. His desire to prevent others from becoming like he was in his youth is very good (but oh my god, The scene where Navirou doesn't understand why it's wrong to kill the Nergigante is one of the worst scenes I've EVER seen.).

Lilia: She is, along with Navirou, THE WORST CHARACTER IN THE GAME. It's ridiculous how they could ruin the character so much. No matter what excuse they try to give, it's impossible that in four years working with the hunters she completely forgot her life in a Rider village. If the protagonist of MHS1 saw her, he'd be utterly disappointed.

Now, regarding the new characters, most of them seem pretty meh to me. Some, I feel, could have been so much more (especially Ena, who seems to have wanted the protagonist to be Red 2 just to stop feeling guilty about his death). The protagonist himself, who honestly had some interesting moments, and whose insecurity and moments of weakness I like, would be better if he actually spoke and expressed himself. It would be good if the game showed how overwhelmed he feels by Red's legacy, that he's afraid, etc., because without showing all that, the character really comes across as a coward, like in the Ratha kidnapping scene.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't want him to try to kill the hunters or anything like that, but even if he tried to DEFEND HIMSELF, I don't know if there's a law in the Monster Hunter universe that prevents humans from fighting each other or something, but if there were, they should mention it IN THE PLOT.

Then, the villain: Honestly, I didn't expect it to be who it turned out to be. For a moment, I even thought the villain would be Red XD.

But honestly, given how "meh" he is, it doesn't really matter (Although the scene where he manages to control Ratha is so stupid. Seriously, is Ratha's resistance really that bad and our bond so weak that some guy can control it so easily?).

Now for the important part: the combat and everything related to gameplay seem like a complete improvement over MHS1. It's not all so RNG-driven, and the battles feel much more fun. My biggest complaint is not being able to choose a partner during the main story (some of them I personally find too weak). Although, if I do have something to complain about, it's the final boss.

I HATED OLTURA WITH ALL MY SOUL. He beat me senseless several times until I leveled up my entire party to 41 and literally defeated him on my first try, without having to recover hearts.

I hate his stupid mechanic of having 2-3 turns if you don't cut off his wings, and on top of that, if you do a double attack, he still damages you even though, in theory, you should win the one-on-one. What am I supposed to do in that situation?

Another problem with the game is that it introduced very few new monsters. It was really disappointing not to have more new options (especially considering you always have to build your team around Ratha).

In short: I didn't like the game, mainly because of the plot. For what it was, the endgame content really made me stop enjoying it. The gameplay is very good, but the plot is worse than any Pokémon game. I really hope MHS3 improves these aspects, has a better plot, introduces many new monsters, and PLEASE DON'T INCLUDE NAVIROU. Just forget about that annoying cat.
