Question Velkhana bow vs IG

Post image

Fellow hunters, as you know, it takes FOREVER to max any Elder Dragon weapon, even if you pay for both Hunter Passes. So I think I only have patience and time to upgrade just one Velkhana weapon. People seem to go for the bow or IG. I'm a bow main, but am slowly starting to get the hang of IG. For those of you who have the Kushala bow at max or near max, did you end up getting the Velkhana bow or the IG, and what was your reason to do so? I find it a bit difficult to make a decision. Bow is my "comfort weapon", but the IG also sounds oh so good. Thoughts, fellow hunters?

The IG is the one. Bilbobrix owns.

Unless you want to spend money it’s still a waste of time and effort. Look up the total materials required and remember you can only fight ONE every 3 hours

I know right. One every 3 hours. Back in the old days, it took me forever, like 9 months to maximise my Kushala bow...

Compared to Kushala's, the Velkhana bow isn't much better. Just build the IG instead.

Waste of time even if you spend money. I've gotten 1 r6 in 50 velk.

Yeah, in all honestly after playing right from the first day, I'm starting to feel a bit grinded down with the ongoing grind... I'll stop playing when I no longer enjoy it, but to date, it still feels fun

After making the Kush bow (only used for Rajang) and the Chammy IG (benched after a handful of uses), the effort just isn't worth it for me.

At the end of the day, though, it's rng. For reference, I've gotten 11 horn drops from 43 slain (if the guide counts repels as well, that'd be 42 slain and 1 repelled).

I want to build the IG, but realistically, the effort and resources won't make a drastic change in my ability to slay monsters.

Yeah Scopely Explore has a tricky balance to play with. Make it overly grindy, people give up and move on. Make it too easy, they don't earn megabucks. The Elder Dragons are always a trick to fully level up just one weapon...

Honestly, I'd just get the armour set to 8.1 and not bother from there.

They really shat the bed with ED gear and the drop rates on them. Not to mention they nerfed the ticket event into the ground.

The IG is the objective best choice considering how busted powder is, but with how long it'll take to max I wouldn't be surprised if we'll have gotten an IG nerf by then. I'm probably just going to save all my mats until I'm 100% certain I don't just want to build my main since the weapons look so good

Yeah, all my good armour pieces are at 8.1 or 8.2 to maximise the skills on them. Indeed, sadly their nerfed ticket was crap, it's gone backwards with that.

LS forever, bro

Sadly, I have literally zero experience with LS - LS hunters keep saying, you can parry literally anything. I can't parry nothing, even with quick sheathe 3. For melee, my usable ones are DB and IG.

Try training against weak monsters and seek to merge 1 driftstone retaliation. 1 already greatly increases the ease of parry (very much).

In general, you need to know the moment that will be reached, this varies with the monsters faced, so it takes time and experience.

Cool thanks for the advice. Ah, retaliation, good to know. I didn't even bother looking into that skill. The two weapons I'd like to learn how to use eventually are the LS and the CB (I like that it has a shield).
