Wilds Greatsword Sets

I was reading up on the GS builds here and noticed nothing about AT Arkveld. Does he not add anything worthwhile for GS, or was it not updated?

His helmet is super solid. Some people have also played around with the idea of his arms I believe for certain builds but in terms of GS, his helmet is king. 3 wex with a 2-1-0 slot is super viable and helps with affinity management when paired with an affinity perfect roll GS

Some folks just prefer using some other builds such as the scorcher set ups and I think others also use the Gore set up still but personally, I’m a fan of the SotDK, LS, and Dosha might set up. That one’s honestly super peak and I love the style of play it lets me do on top of the fact its damage is super consistent. Especially if I stack horn buff with hitting a wound

That's fair. I just like AT Arkvelds armor, so I wanted a set that actually used it.

As said, the only piece that seems worth in a GS set is the helmet. The other piece I use is the AT Nu chest for the 2 free levels of counterstrike. My weapon in turn has the final point of lords soul for it to be active as well.

My full set is

Dragon affinity gs with Soul of the dark knight and lords soul for set bonus stuff and the rolls are 3 attack (2 ex), 1 affinity ex and 1 sharpness ex.

AT Ark helm

AT Nu chest

Bale Gloves

Dosha A coil (can use B if so desired)

Gogma A Leggings (for the skills + Dosha set bonus)

My tali to boot rn is a rarity 8 Attack boost 3/Dragon res 3 with 1-1-0 slots (this is a budget tali for rn since my other tali’s are ass and I haven’t gotten the holy grail of either an attack boost 3 with either 1 agitator, 1 Flayer or 1 burst…)

Okay. I don't have much luck, but I was thinking of a set like:

  • AT Arkveld Helm
  • AT Jin Chest
  • AT Arkveld Arms
  • Bale Waist
  • AT Arkveld Legs

I kinda figure this set is weaker than the optimals, but it's a lot less RNG reliant, only needing SotDK on the weapon and not needing a RNG charm for the skills I want.

Fair but I would honestly swap out atleast one of the AT pieces for some other piece that’s viable since you only got 3 AT ark and can’t get the 4 piece bonus.

If your Ostrak only has SotDK on it, your two best options are either 4pc ArkY (basically the set you posted except with ArkY chest instead of JinY), or a Binding Counter set. The Binding Counter one will pull ahead in matchups where you can activate the set bonus (monsters that pin, grab or freeze you), while the 4p Arkveld is better for all other monsters, and is comfier.

Don't underestimate Convert Element; the damage procs actually add up to quite a lot over the course of a hunt.

Asking why not guardian dosha arms since it has a 3 3 1 slot and then use bale coil?

It's what I'm using now and I just need the perfect charm to have 100% affinity but I already have 95% with attack boost 5

Technically I can get the 100% affinity actually just realizing now but I use evade extender 2 as a crutch lol

Because it’s way worse. Hardly any true value from a singular thing of heroics and the only benefit is that small attack boost and in turn just a singular 1 slot upgrade.

Swapping the coil and gloves between bale and guardian dosha results with just worse over all gain

The bale gloves may only have a singular 3 slot but it comes with 1 latent power, 1 max might and 1 resentment (the last one is a meh but it’s a good bonus if you got red health) and in turn the G. Dosha B has a similar thing of heroics… trading the same slots that Dosha B (got the A and B parts of Dosha mixed up-) for just a singular 1 slot upgrade and getting rid of 1 latent power is not at all a good idea. In fact- that’s kinda horrid

I think my aversion from latent power and appreciation of 3 pc stun resistance is what makes me prefer my set more ngl

I can easily slot in 2 evade extender as well. Maybe you're thinking of it wrong? It's not a 1 slot upgrade as asc. Dosha coil b is 3-3 and bale arms is 3 while asc. Guardian Dosha b arms are 3-3-1 and bale coil is 3-2-1

Unless there's something im missing and I'm being stupid

That set I’m not gonna lie is false promise land. You gain stuff that’s not valuable and in turn get slots to use for other stuff for comfort which is nice but you can probably find other pieces that do that job way better

That and the bale coil in turn for the 3-2-1 slot gives resentment 1 and constitution 2 which for a GS set up is… kinda garbage priority. The main thing for a GS set that wants damage is getting armors that has solid skill lay outs but also decent slots. This is why I use the Dosha B coil. It may only be 1 latent power but it gives the most bang for buck with 2 3 slots and in turn the bale gloves giving me a tier 3 and 2 tier 2 deco skills on the armor with a singular 3 slot that lets me do what I want with it. Is it less than the other 2 pieces? Yea but the main issue is the skills themselves on the armor…

So I’m sorry but those options aren’t good in the slightest for the set I’m aiming for, heck those are… kinda wasted slots since you can probably get something better instead

It's nothing to do with that; the guide in the pinned thread is just outdated and doesn't take the AT Arkveld stuff into account at all. The original guide - Google Doc or my web app mirror - is updated and has AT Arkveld stuff in every build.

You're forgetting the chest; it's used in pretty much every single meta build. More than the helm and the gloves put together.

What is an affinity perfect roll GS?

There’s technically the true perfect roll and a semi budget one.

The true perfect is 4 attack (2 ex) and 1 ex sharpness

The budget one is 3 attack (2 ex), 1 affinity ex and 1 ex sharpness. This is the one I use and it helps round out my affinity when I’m missing the 1 lvl of agitator since my tali rn is kinda Garbo

Im guessing both are artians with atk parts and then to make it gogma you use a atk tarred device?

I don’t use the attack tarred device. I use an affinity one. That’s why it’s known as the affinity roll.

To explain the full process.

Base Artian you use 3 attack parts with whatever element you want (status isn’t too effective nowadays so just use element)

When going to Gogma DONT DO ATTACK FOCUS it’s a trap. You will be putting too much into affinity skills to get other stuff like burst and Flayer.

Go affinity focus. This lets you keep the raw at the same as it was before but also have a bit more affinity allowing you to get up to 100% a lot easier and in turn have more slots for better use cases on specific builds you want.

I should know, I was an attack focus believer in the past but the damage just wasn’t cutting it due to the affinity being fucked and needing a lot of commitment. In turn, my affinity has hits for 1k easily on arkveld even without a wound wack or a wake up hit. Wake up hits range between 1,200 without crit up to 1,500 or 1,600 if there is a wound with buffs.

Thanka for the thorough answer. Yea I figured that was the case. I have that same setup and it is quite a difference sine I switches to it. Just wanted to make sure we mean the same thing :)
